It's because of all the pressure put on them by the WT Society. They are led to believe they cannot miss a meeting or they may be killed at Armageddon. If they don't keep their field service hours up to the national average they may be killed at Armageddon. If they don't witness to their co-workers and school mates they may be killed at Armageddon. If they don't bring their kids up in it they may be killed at Armageddon. This pressure is always looming over JWs heads. No wonder so many go crazy.

Why so much mental illness among JW's?
by cherjcd ini have just added an audio tape on mental illness among jehovah's witnesses by jerry bergman.
http://www.jwinfoline.com/page/audio_tapes_of_month.htm.
it is interesting to hear the reasons why jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of mental illness than the normal population.

Similar religions to JW
by Quincy inok everyone....i have noticed that there are a few other religions out there similar to the jw's.....for example...i have a friend who has a sister that who belongs to a non-denominational christian church.....she feels that her church is the "only way" to god...and also too it seems as though she looks down on anyone who does not go to her church....they have weekly bible studies on monday or tuesday nights...they even have a "field service" in which they go out to neighbors trying to get them to come to that particular church....does anyone else out there know about the other ones similar to the jw?

The Worldwide Church of God is very similar to JW teachings. It was started by that Armstrong guy(can't remember his first name,Herbert I think.)They don't celebrate Christmas and they will not allow their children to have vaccines.Similar to the JWs rejection of blood.

Living the JW 'simplified lifestyle'
by truman inthough i haven't heard as much about this concept in the last few years, during much.
of my tenure as a jw ('74-'01) there was frequent mention in the pages of the wt urging.
witnesses to live a simplified lifestyle.

That JW "simplified lifestyle" is a load of manure. The witnesses in my old Hall were some of the most materialistic people you could ever meet. When one pioneer sister got a new car everybody went out to the parking lot to see it after the meeting.I also noticed that a lot of them look down on others who are less fortunate.I've known some sisters who have had to quit pioneering so they could go to work and help pay for their style of life. The Witnesses are just as materialistic as anybody else.

(shamelessly) Its My Birthday!
by Sirona inits my birthday and i got some anais anais body mist, a buffy "watchers guide" book, and some angel innocence perfume and shower mousse.. my bf says he will buy me an outfit when i'm better, too,.
russell grant says this about people born on 14 september:.
at their best, people born on september 14 are tremendous party-givers and general planners of fun and great holidays.

ANYONE JOINED A NEW RELIGION?
by Mary infor those who have left the organization, have any of you gone to another church?
or did being a jw simply turn you off religion altogether.
i feel i would like to still belong to a religious group (that's just in my personality) but of course, i would feel really guilty at first going in to "babylon the great".

I haven't joined another religion but I have gone to several functions of various churches.Everybody I've met there has been so friendly and not looking at everybody they didn't know with skepticism. So different from the witnesses.

How did we EVER do it all?!??!?!
by poohbear1962 inthere has been something that has been bothering the "engineer" part of me for a lonnnng while.
we have heard it from the platform time and time again about what we should be doing as "servants of god".
so, today i finally sat down and calculated if it is even possible to do all of the study, meetings, field service, secular work, school, etc, etc.

Poohbear,
DON'T REMIND ME! God, I don't know how I ever did it with two small children,a full-time job and a husband who was always trying to get me to stop going.I truly don't believe that Jesus meant for his true followers to be burdened down like that. That's one thing I started thinking about before I made the decision to fade away. Now my life is much less stressful.
