The congregation I attended had a "Talent Show" on December 15 last year.(Only 10 days away from Christmas! How did that happen?)It was supposed to be for the entire congregation but my son and I were not invited. However,I did see a video of it and they had Christmas lights all around the floor for a stage.Everyone brought food and they danced afterward. All that was missing were the tree and presents.Just more proof of hypocrisy is what I think.

How did you feel about 'fake' witnesses?
by Simon ini'm sure you know the ones i mean ... they decided to have a family 'present day' on dec 26th each year so that the kids could announce what presents they got while the rest of us 'zealots' were getting the piss taken out of us.. at the time, i could not understand how or why they did it or got away with it - it seemed obvious to me that thwy were celebrating christmas and we were not supposed to.
but hell, what did i know ... i was only a kid ... not an elder .
now, i kind-a-think "yeah, do what's right for your kids" but also "you're not fooling anyone!

Unhappy Believers
by JH in.
did you know any brothers and sisters that attend(ed) meetings regularly, but deep inside seem(ed) to be very unhappy about being a witness?
i ask this question because many people are just blind followers, who don't dare question the leaders and follow like sheep.

The last circuit assembly I attended(October 2001) there were about 900 in attendance and only 8 baptisms.I think most of them were JW children.

I saw my medical records the other day....
by meat pie in.
.....and inside was the letter i sent to my doctor a few months ago, asking for my health care advance directive to be removed, as i no longer shared the beliefs of jws.
attached was a note stating that my letter had been acted upon.. what really caught my attention though was what was on the front cover, above my name were the words'jehovah's witness' crossed out.. a funny feeling, then release.

I'm so glad I don't have to pull my wallet out in the grocery store line and think the person behind me sees the blood card.Even when I was in and my son had a tonsillectomy I signed a consent form for him to have blood in case he needed it.That's something they never found out about.I mean, who's gonna let their child die if it can be avoided?

Question about the Annointed.
by patricia inwhen you were still a jw, what was your concept of what happened to those of the "annointed" who had died.
i remember the scoffing and tittering when we were out in field service when a householder mentioned their belief that their loved ones were in "heaven".
we were told to ask them "what was heaven like?, were there pearly gates, did people eat up there, did they have emotions?

Newbie with question
by outbackaussie inbeen browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.

How did you come into the Truth Brothers and Siste
by refiners fire inits an oldie i know.. i remember, years ago, my parents had some people around for dinner that we never talked to.
after a while we remembered why we never talked to them.
the conversation was so stilted that my father, in a long silence, resorted to this question.

My great-grandparents on my Dad's side were Bible Students from Russell's day.My Dad was raised to believe it was the truth but never was an active witness.I mean,we always had Christmas and Easter and two elderly ladies use to pick us kids up and take us to Sunday School at the Nazarene church. Then one day in 1964 when I was 9 years old witnesses came calling...................
