This is something I never understood about the jws. They have no organized youth groups where kids can do things with people their own age.All they're supposed to do is go out in service with adults, sit through five meetings a week,be there for the family study and tend to their own personal study. My son and I attended one congregation for over a year and he never made any friends there. All the youths seemed afraid to approach each other because a lot of them really didn't know each other outside the kingdom hall.I wonder why the society is so against kids getting together and having a good time?Seems like instead of encouraging this sort of thing, they're always cautioning against it .Wonder what they're afraid of?

The Society loves its young people
by Omega Man in>do you remember at assemblies when you would hear talks on how the organization loves its young people.
by publishing a book "young people ask" this would be pretty much the extent of what they would do for it's young people.
it would be like a father saying to his kids i love you, here is a book how to live your life and never spend any time with them.

Why Jesus Avoided God's Name (part one)
by metatron inthe watchtower has often asserted that jesus openly proclaimed.
god's name (jehovah/yahweh) to his listeners.. all the available evidence indicates this is utterly false.. to show why this is so, we must first answer the question:.
the name of god aloud?.

You have shed some light on a subject I have often wondered about but the witnesses avoid.Never did Jesus one time in the christian Greek scriptures mention the name"Jehovah" and I never heard them address this. Thanks for a good post!

Angelic protection-how does that work again?
by PopeOfEruke inwe read of recent events, 5 jw children killed in a car accident, jw's caught and beheaded and be-tongued (and not necessarily in that order) in the phillipines, a busload of witnesses burnt to death in spain on the way to the district convention (some years back).
and so on and so on..... yet the wt and bible too tell us "have no fear because jehovah and his myriads of angels are watching over us and will protect us.".
well, they do a pretty crappy job at it!

I for one never experienced divine protection from anything bad when I was a dub, even though I heard and read a lot about it.Guess some rate better than others.

Only JW's Honest - Perpetuating the Stereotype
by NeonMadman in.
the back cover of the august 15 watchtower offers another example of mind control, reinforcing the concept that there are no honest people except for jehovah's witnesses, and that there is no crime within the organization ("if all people were jehovah's witnesses, who would commit crimes?"):.
don't it make you wanna hurl?

I can't stand it when I read stuff like this in the mags.First of all, there are good, honest people in all religions, and it is very BOASTFUL to write crap like this about yourself. If you ask me, it is a turn-off.

My children are grown now but I plan to carve some pumpkins and put them in the front yard and deck out the whole front of the house.I am going to buy one of those huge bowls and fill it with all kinds of candy for little trick-or-treaters.I'm also going to answer the door in costume. Can't wait! It is so good to be part of life again!

Do you feel guilty about bringing people. . .
by StinkyPantz ininto the borg?.
i fortunately was never able to have a bible study grow all the way to the point of baptism.
but for those of you who did, do you feel guilty about bringing another person into what i think of as a cult?

I never brought anyone into it,thank God.I do ,however feel foolish for trying to convince people it was the truth.Lucky for them, they didn't listen to me.Now I can see why.

I hated it.I was sorry at giving presentations and always felt stupid trying to talk at the doors.I dreaded anyone asking a question about the belief ...always told them I would look up information on it and come back...I never did.My heart was never in the preaching work and I felt guilty all the time because I didn't have zeal and joy for the ministry like the lit. always says you should.I'm glad I'm not burdened down with it anymore.

"Woe is me" -- so say the JW's
by Gopher inthe way we were taught as jehovah's witnesses made us think everyone who didn't evangelize was in deep trouble.
1 corinthians 9:16 was often quoted at us by every travelling overseer who wanted to exhort the congregation, and that verse says in part, "necessity is laid upon me.
really woe is me if i did not declare the good news!".

I don't think anyone should be forced to give talks if it goes against their nature to speak in front of people, but if you're a jw there is no excuse. You are made to feel like you're not worthy of life if you don't do this.Well,Paul was specially commissioned to do this and I believe he was referring to himself in that scripture, not everyone. It's not in everyone's nature to preach to people at doors either but they would have you think you are worthless if you don't do this.I just don't believe someone would lose their life if they were too shy to do everything witnesses say they should do.This has always been one of my biggest quirks with jws.

How did you view your congregation?
by haujobbz in.
when i was in my congregation i found it to be a very selfish self spirited congregation,i also found many witnesses to be very easily offended and hyper sensitive oh and i forgot the gossip ohh the gossip was horrendous, this hyper sensitivity really got on my nerves because it was starting to rub off on me and i started to get paranoid and easily offended and i was never like that b4.. and what pi@@ed me off was the fact how brothers on the stage said how loving our congregation was and what a good reputation it was known to have.. but now i have left and im back to my down to earth happy personality.
