Welcome RA, I am not a jw but I do have family in and this forum is wonderful and helpful. Hang on to the WT literatrue, some of those old books are going for high dollar on ebay. It's also proof of how they changed over the years.

Want to Introduce myself....Hi everyone.
by ilovelamp120 inhi all, i've been reading here for awhile and made a few posts before realizing i should probably introduce myself.
it's so refreshing to read ppl's thoughts on these topics, which run deeply personal, and i've never been able to express myself freely, so thanks for such a great forum.. i was born and raised a dub, by my "spiritually single" mother (dad was an unbeliever..still is) me and my 3 other siblings all fell away before getting baptised, other than my older sis, who was df'd at 16. unfortunatley in my early 20's a sister "took an interest in me and we had a bible study for 2 years before getting baptized at 24.
(what a regret) since then i floundered, flopped, got df'd a year later for dum, dum, dum..."fornication and then reinstated 9 months later.

Getting Baptised Next Week
by passwordprotected inquick note to say that gail and i are getting baptised as christians next sunday, 12pm, riverside gospel church..

Passwordprotected, Why do any of us have to be baptized into a certain religion? If you and your wife are both Christian, why can't you baptize each other? It's a commitment to God, why does it have to be done by a chruch? Just courious

Cadellin, You just don't know what a pleasure it is to welcome a newcomer, to me it means another jw has had an awakening. Makes me hopeful for my family.
Very interested in reading what caused you to wake up to the lie of the WT.

If my children had to listen to this at service today and not question this, they have to be asleep during the talk or daydreaming or just in a daze. They can not possibly buy into this nonsense.
If I can't approach my children about this mind controlling cult, maybe if I wait a little bit longer, the WT will do it for me.

Coffee Black, How awful your dad had to die because of a belief that was changed 2 yrs. later. That is criminal and the WT should have been held responsible. That would have been enough for me to question everything about the WT. Good thing you had your own complete library to look back on.
Thank you for sharing your experience and how COC helped you. It's stories like this that make me want to take the chance and just offer it to my son-in-law.
Piercing, I am happy to read that your friend was open to reading COC, and that it had a postive affect on him. Again, one reason I think I need to give the book to my sil.
I would love to read more favorable reactions to passing the book on to a friend or family member, I will hold out hoping for more to respond to this post and see if there are more postive then negative reactions to passing the book on.

Drew, What kind of excuse is that for not reading a book?? Unbelievable! That is just sad.
Coffee Black, just courious as to what made you read COC? Did someone give it to you, did you hear about it or were you having doubts on your own?

These topics are the same thing they have been saying for over a 100 years, nothing they preach ever comes true. The famous loaded word works here:
Wait on Jehovah

WOW, OnTheWayOut, that your mother had to ask an elder about it, that really show's the control the WT has over her thinking for herself. I feel if I send it anonymously, I would not know how they would react, I would rather see the response to it, it it would be negative or positive. Maybe, being that I am not a jw, they would just look at it like its, ignorance on my part that I just don't understand the religion. If they take that approach, maybe they would set it aside but not throw it out. If they set it aside, maybe one day they would be tempted to pick it up and read some of it.
My heart starts beating fast at just the thought that it could be a negative response.

I have a question, do the JW' still believe that....,
by cawshun indo the jw's still believe that they were chosen by jesus as god's one true religion, by what charles russel taught?
do they stand on that or do they feel they were chosen later under rutherford?
if they accept that russel was chosen and rutherford changed things up, wouldn't rutherford be an apostate?.

Possible-san, I wish I could read Japanese, I would love to read your web page. I like the cover of your websight and it does speak of what is not told verbally.
thanks!
