three days ago i became aware that my daughter was arrested.
again.. here's a little history.
we adopted this child when she was 2 months old.

I'm so sorry for what your having to deal with. There comes a time when one must practice "tough love". I know the thought of her being in prison has to hurt, but at least you get some peace of mind, you know where she is every night and day. You know she is not building some meth lab that could blow up her or her children, she is not around to do you or the grand-kids harm. It may be the best peace of mind you have at the moment.

recently i talked to some jw, even so called strong ones in the truth:.
i noticed, they do not believe everything from the wts, for example:.
one older sister, a close relative of mine, she has been pioneering for years, babtizes over 40 years ago, mentioned, that sometimes she wonders about certain teaching, but she can not say anything, because somebody would say, she speaks against jehovah himself..further she said, she remmebers 1975, and that the society tried to blame the brothers, but was clearly responsible itself... i was quit shocked to hear that from her, and i added some careful comments in the same direction.... other brothers do not agree with certain teachings, like resurrected ones will not marry, or animals will not eat each other etc.... maybe those are "minor" issues, but if you doubt one teaching of gods channel, doesnt that mean, you doubt the whole thing ?.
I hate how the JW's use the word " Apostate", its just their way of stopping any questioning of the WT.
What really surprises me the most is, JW's today follow Rutherford's teachings, why are they following an " Apostate"? When Charles Taze Russel had the approval from the Lord that they were the only religion teaching the proper food at the proper time, they did celebrate Christmas and smoked ect.... Rutherford say's those things are wrong to do. Well, according to Jesus, they were ok, he gave his approval.
It's all such a farse!
i'm a newbie as far as delving into information other than wt based, and have only just started posting on this board...so maybe the following thought will be old hat to some of you, not a concern or perhaps something you occasionally think about.
but, are you scared to watch the news?
purely for the fact of seeing things go on in the world that would prompt you to think about your jw upbringing?
When my jw daughter hears something bad in the news, she just says, I know what's going to happen, so no sense worrying about trying to change anything.
My response to her is, so, do you think the Jew's thought Armegeddon was here when they were being exterminated?, what about the people of Dafur, when genicide was being done to them, do you think they may have thought this was Armegeddon? What about the people of Bosnia, when genecide was being committed on them? What about those tortured by Sadame Hussien, do you think they thought this was their Armeggdon? To me, our news isn't so bad compare to what these people went through. Maybe its not all the signs of the last day's, but I'm sure it seemed that way to these people.
i find it more difficult to be genuinely helpful by my words when condolences are in order.
when i was a jw, i'd give people the "ressurection hope" and feel i could give a measure of solace.
now, i feel inadequate when offering my thoughts.. what do you say when a dear loved one passes away?.
Instead of dwelling on the death, why not celebrate the persons life
for those familiar with my postings already know, i am a christian who is married to an active jehovah's witness (though not yet baptized).
we discuss issues concerning the witnesses and their doctrines and have had "bible studies" with one of the elders.
i've asked her about some of these things and i would like to share her responses and see if it lines up with watchtower teachings.. can a police officer become a jehovah's witness?.
Gary, you said the Sunday talk was about Idols, the usual line up, sports being one of them. So what's the real teaching on sports? Can you be a coach if it causes you to miss meetings? How do they feel about coaching for a career? If anyone know's the answer, I would appreciate hearing it.
I asked that question before and was told it was a matter of conscience, but yet they gave a talk against sports Sunday? I don't understand.
first, it feels so weird typing all this to strangers, but here goes anyway.. i suppose my jw had an epiphany recently because we had some really deep talks this weekend.
he was very kind and calm about everything, but he basically said he's afraid i won't be happy in our life together because of his jw lifestyle.
he says he knows a life with him isn't the one i pictured for myself and that he doesn't feel able to make the kind of compromises i would want or need to be happy.
My daughter married a jw, she didn't think she would ever be one, but now she is a baptized jw. My grand-children are now being raised that way. They can't go to their friends birthday parties or have their own. They can't have Santa Clause, they can't go trick or treating... it goes on and on. Ask him about masterbation ( I feel its a healty way of learning about one's own body) they make it a big guilt trip, where they think they are failing Jehovah and like they can never measuer up. They can't have any thing to do with the government, saluting the flag, singing the national athem.
My grand-kids have to leave their class room when they have a birthday party for other kids, have their chirstmas party, haloween, valentines. At first it didn't bother them but my grand-son is 8 now and he want's to stay with his class during these holidays. The only thing that helps is both his parents teach and coach at the school, so they can go to their classroom during these things. I just hate it for them.
Ask him what the jw views are on your private sex life.
Then there is the blood issue, how you dress, if he can have a beard, if you can have worldy friends.
Ask about what music you can listen to, rock, country, ect....
Ask him about using slang words like, Oh Geeze, God Bless You,
They want to control ever aspect of your life, and when you can't measure up, they make you feel weak in your faith, your letting Jehovah down.
You may not believe like the witnesses but, they are taught all the time how to get control of your mind.
Think long and hard about these things, they are a very scary mind control group. If you choose it, that's one thing, your an adult, but if you have children with him, they will have no choice in being raised in a cult.

this is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.
i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.
he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.
Mary, I always liked this saying " death can rob you of a loved one, but it never rob you of his memory" My most sincere sympathy to you and your family.

as mentioned previously i was starting to travel more frequently to the us on business, specifically los angeles.
I really enjoyed reading your story. I am happy you found a new way of life with lots of friendships. I do hope one day your mother will come around and realize her sacrifice. I can't imagine ever giving up my children for a religion.

from the tv show "america's most wanted" on saturday, sept 26: michael calhoun - 39 y/o white male, 6', 210 lbs - convicted of rape and the attempted murder of an elderly woman.
wanted for failing to register as a violent sexual predator in ashtabula county, ohio.
he has psoriasis, is believed to be dealing drugs, and could be hiding out in a jehovah's witness community (amw did not elaborate as to why he could be hiding amongst witnesses).
frozen one, I saw this on AMW show too. I'm glad you posted his pic. You never know, even here if someone may recognize him.
I hope he gets caught and I bet he is a jw.
it's time for my weekly sunday afternoon rant.. my story starts with my daughter seven years ago when she was 11. even though we were not associating anymore, we would let her stay with her jw grand parents and jw cousins some distance away for overniters.. coming back from a visit, she was noticeably reserved.
she told my wife at bedtime, she never wanted to go back and visit grandma.
they had told her we would not be in the new order.
I am not a jw but my daughter married one. His mother is a pioneer and step dad is an elder.... My grand-kids, on occassions, far and few between do spend the night with them. I always worry that they may say something like that to them about me and my husband. I don't know what I will do if I ever hear they said such a thing to them about us.
The kids did tell me one time that, if I celebrated christmas and birthdays, that I worshiped the devil.... I told them that was not ture. I don't think my daughter or son-in-law told the kids that because they allow them to come to my house on Christmas Eve and have presents. They don't spend time with any other witnesses other then thos jw grand-parents. I don't think it came from KH either, they told me this during the summer, so its not like it was being discussed at the hall.
What a shame people have to impose these frightening thoughts on small children. I pray for the day my kids wake up to this farce.
