My husband told me that if you got a refund back on what you paid in, there's a calculation you have to follow to determine how much of the stimulas you will get. You should be able to find this at www.irs.gov under the stimulus catagory. Hope this helps.

Son sends "apostate" text message - Now the elders want to talk to him!!
by GoingGoingGone inmy 17 year old son told his dad that he didn't want to be a jw anymore about 8 months ago i think, and doesn't go to meetings or assemblies.
he's been accepted to one of the best universities in the country and will start this fall, with his dad's blessing.
their congregation had the summer convention this past weekend.

Please don't let your son meet with the elders. I would be so proud of my kids if they had such a clear understanding of the cult as your son does. Who the HELL do they think they are that they have control over how he thinks. It's none of their business! I agree with what other's have said " They have no intention on listening to anything he has to say, they will turn a deaf ear". All they care about is gaining control over his mind so he won't be misleading other's ( like his JW friend). This is just what has the WT running scard right now and causing them to go overboard on the apostates, higher education, Keeping them isolated from the world. You should be counting your blessings your son still can think for himself. Being he has a free intelligent mind is the scarriest thing to the WT. If I was guardian of my child, no way in hell would they be allowed to meet with anyone belonging to a cult.

by The Oracle inif you are an elder who frequents this site, please let me know.. i am trying to connect (completely anonymously - your privacy is assured) with as many elders as i can.
i know that there are hundreds of elders in the same position as myself (have had our awakening and have come to realize that "the truth" is a sham).. i encourage you to continue to serve as an elder and for you to work together with other like minded elders as a collective force for true good.
there is much we can do from the inside to help the cause.. there are thousands and indeed millions of kind and honest hearted people whose only crime is that they have allowed themselves to be deceived and are still active jws.

No school for you: confirmation of CO outline on education
by raindog ini just spoke with my dad after he returned from an elders meeting.
the co did say that elders would have to step down from their positions if they supported their child getting an education.
the reasoning behind this is that an elder is encouraging their children to attend college, they would not be able to counsel the rank and file on the issue.

Welcome redredrose, I'm new here too and its very addicting. I can't go a day without checking on new post, I'm learning so much. I'm not a JW, I have family in and my grand-kids are the one's I'm worried about. I'm so happy you see the "new light" I am hoping something that maybe struck you might hit my kid's the same way. I hope this new thing on higher education get's around the congo's fast, that might be something that may open their eyes. Good Luck!

Kid's playing sports?

when my son was 8 years old they had a t-ball league in the summer at the nearby park.
because of the borg training we told him he couldn't play t-ball.. that kind of thinking just carried on throughout his life from junior high through high school.

I have never been a JW. My daughter married a JW and she was converted. I did study with the JW's back in 1974 and I remember the girl I studied with told me that they didn't encourage sports or cheerleading. That was a red flag to me, as I was a cheerleader and my husband very much into athletics. She told me something about the competivness being dangerous. She brought up an example like the soccer games in another Country where the fan's got so upset they started a riot and many people got hurt, fan's trying to run away got stampeded. This was what brought my studies to an end. I thought, this is pretty darn extreme. Thank goodness, it opened my eyes. I can't even discuss things with my daughter. I gave her some information I printed off the internet about some questions I had and when she found out I took it off the internet, she said "oh no wonder, you can't believe that, that's all apostate stuff". " I said, " oh, there's the word apostate, put up the wall"! We talked a bit further and she just got all huffy and louder and madder. I got into birthdays with her for a bit and them she said, ok kid's let's pack it up, time to go! my 6yr. old grandson was fighting back tears. I didn't want him to hear any of this, but my daughter just went off!
We calmed down and left on good terms. However the next day, my grand-son came over and he told me. " if you celebrate birthday's, you worship Satan" ! " if you buy birthday presents you worship Santan" ! I told him, I love God and I do not worship Satan.
I know the JWs don't teach this, so I'm thinking my daughter was still miffed when she left here and told him I worship Satan. Man, how frightening is that. My grand-son and I have a great relationship, he thinks we hung the moon, but now I feel like he pulled away from me. Not a lot, but I definitely feel something changed.
I have really felt sickened by this. The way my daughter reacted I don't even want to bring this up to her. If my grand-son ever tell's his friends at school this nonsense, he will lose all his friends.
Sorry for getting off subject and thanks for listening while I vent.

Can anyone tell me, are sport's, coaching and dancing allowed today in the borg? Hearing what all of you are saying, how can they be allowed to do these thing's now? Did the rule change? If it did, why not change the rule on birthday's? They have such a double standard and they can't even see that!

My daughter and husband, both JW's, are coaches. Both play softball and the kids play t-ball, baseball, basketball and one goes to dancing. I'm not sure how the borg feel's about it today, his parents are Jw's, one a pioneer and he is and elder. They never go watch any of the kids games nor do they go to the dance recital. My kid's don't think that's extreme??? What's the deal, are my kid's breaking the rules or is it allowed today?

Hi All, I'm a newbie, not a JW never was. My daughter, her husband and my grand-kids are JW's, I am here to find way's to get them to see the light, not the "new light" actually the light switch, so they can turn off the "new light". Sorry for not introducing myself to the forum, I just jumped in. I enjoy this forum, so many scholarly post, lot's of humor and just so many nice caring people. I can say, I'm very addicted already and have to sign in every day to see what new things I can learn. I think I'm head count 12? lol
