  i have a feeling i am going to have to explain to my jw folks why i have decided to allow my children to participate in holidays at school.

  theyll probably be wondering too why i will get together with our non jw family for the holidays.. .

  we know jws avoid holidays because of their pagan origins.

  several years ago i was contacted by a well-known (actually famous and well-published) professor from the university of california at san diego and we had lunch.

  he bought lunch.

  doesn't everyone write books to make a whole big bunch of money?.

  birthdays in new release WT pub

  a subtle difference in the new book....it says something like "the bible reports negatively on birthdays- especially in the case of john the baptist...".

  they are subtly admitting that the gen account does not strongly put b-days in a bad light and choose to focus on john the baptist.

  obviously if they paid attention to the man spared and the results of that the gen 40:20 account would be positive.. yet they also now added the comments attributing birthdays to satanism..... .

  How I wish I knew of Colossians 2:16 a week ago. Kind of got into the birthday thing with my daughter because my grand-son's birthday was coming up. She put up the wall up right away and got huffy. We split on good terms. I didn't know about the Santan thing till the day after when my grand-son 6yrs.old was here with me and he told me: " If you celebrate birthdays you worship Satan" and "if you buy birthday presents you worship Satan". I was dumbfounded. I told him I do not worship Satan, that I love Jehovah and that was not true. Left it at that. I was really hurt and upset for the entire week. I thought that after my daughter left she may have still been upset with me and that he asked her why we were fighting and she just told him that pharase about satan. I am NOT a JW never was, took care of him for the first 3yrs of his life, have done nothing but shower him with love and my daughter would let him think something so awful of me. I'm still miffed about it but wouldn't bring it up with my daughter since she did say, when we argued, that her kid's didn't need to be around me. I have actually been sick over this but can't do a thing about it.

  My daughter's family will be going to the DC next week. I'm am praying that something hits them about how rediculous this is. They are educated people, what will it take to open their eyes????

  Sister Update

  my sisters husband sent me a text message last weekend, saying that shed had a stroke due to the trial medication shes on, had been in hospital for a week but is now out and fully recovered.

  im of the opinion that, if doctors are putting her on trial medication, this indicates that theyre just doing whatever they can to extend her life.

  i think that either none of my siblings talk to mum and dad, or none of them even talk to each other.

  I agree with all the sweetstuff said, great advice, makes sense. Why do we all struggle to be pleasers when no one cares if they please us. Life is short, live it to the fullest and if you can brighten your sister's day, go for it. If you love your Nan, she would love to see you, if she is going to be 80 how many more chances will you get to share some love with her.

  hi everyone,been looking for some time,decided to register and give a little contribution.everything helps.in the wbts for 15 years,never bought everything ,some things just never clicked,i was "waiting on jehovah"but eventually things just went worst(or better)and stop attending meetings a year ago.my 3 kids (never baptised)could no be happier,wife still going once a week average,but things changed for her too.we're still in good standing,but i'm thinking of da myself,our familyes are all catholic,so no problem with the shunning thing for us.and for the friends in the truth(friends,yeah right)whatever........

  Welcome running,

  Everytime I hear of some one breaking away from the jw cult, I get my hopes up that one day my family members will see the "true" "new light". When I think how James Jones got all those followers to drink the kool ade, it blows my mind. When I see the FDLS in San Antonio, Texas caught up in that cult of old men having their way with young girls, it blows my mind. What does it take for my family to see thru this WT organazation??? My daughter and son-in-law are both college educated and they still can't see what's going on. I love when some one new on this board has an awakening, it gives me such hope! Thank you running!

  ...................who was a witness at my judicial comm.

  any of you that know me also know i was df'ed because an elder had an outcome in mind, and that was to keep me quiet about a pedophile in the congregation.

  he was partly able to do that by using a sister (friend of mine and also another elder's daughter, who was on my jc)by getting her to incorrectly quote me as slandering the pedo's ms brother to her.
