I think they get away with passing off new light - because most JW don't even read or study most wt literature - they depend on the one who has.

I personally was not aware of many of their teachings, until I started reading every bit of wt literature I could get my hands on. And I started reading because I thought I was helping my spiritual weakness and depression -- and after my study of their literature, I was amazed at what we had been fooled into believing. And when I say study, this meant looking up the information they referenced in the footnotes and looking up all the scriptures. After doing this I realized I had been fooled. BTW, the only reason I had enough time to do this extensive research was because I was put on disability for depression (if I was working and keeping up with my household, I would never had found the time to do this). As with the JW being able to do extensive research, it is very hard for them with the 5 meetings the field service, their jobs and family.

So the WTBS will get away with practically anything they want to pass on - as long as the JW don't take the time to read and study their so-called TRUTH. And believe me, they will find a new twist to encourage the JW to get out their with a urgency to spread their message. If you have read the latest watchtower study articles, you can see the message.

God Changing Chosen Peoples

my huband posed something to me yesterday that i had never even thought of before.

he said, wouldn't it be possible that if a group <ie.

jehovahs witnesses> fell out of gods favor, what would stop him from choosing another group?

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so can you please tell me who is God infuriated with or who are you referring to.

And this is just my opinion, I still don't think the we should refer to our Father with his first name.

And if the JW are NOT saying his name (God) correctly -- Then are they God's chosen people? If if they are not, then who is? And one more. If God has not written a prophecy to determine what would be done with the JW org. for becoming wicked. What do we do from here (there). If we believe that they are the now wicked as you say or that they were God's chosen people, in the first place.

I hope you can understand these questions, if not, I will try to clarify them.

Too much spiritual food? Too much faith?

hello all.. this is a quote from an earlier conversation in the 1975 thread.. are you saying that the garden was weeded from those who put too much faith in "god's spirit-directed organization"?

did these people listen to too much of their "food at the proper time"?.

unfortunately, i never received a response from smartgirlpw, only insults of "boo boos" and truth hurting.. i would like to know if you personally (yes, i am asking for your opinion here, your pearls, or two cents) believe that you should not take very seriously what is stated in the wt publications, and if so, or even if not, please explain.. this was my original question before i lashed out at you for claiming we were having a pitty party and you began to lash out at me, java, pathofthorns, trevor, etc.

I don't think anyone found offense to what she was saying. But I do think they found offense to her being so insulting. Like telling eye opened (I think) who pissed in your cheerios. Now that is a great comment from a God fearing, bible trained person. I can't speak for the rest, but I do enjoy a good meeting of the minds mixed with a little humor. But when it's filled with insults and contempt, it neither funny, nor needed, because i think we all have been through enough of those feelings.

The guilt factor

i was talking to the hubby over the weekend.

i mentioned the fact that so much of what witnesses do seems to be driven by guilt.

he said "yes, that's because they have a conscience.

It's wonderful how the mind control, stops us from seeing that we are made to feel guilty. Now that I have a clear mind, and when I was still receiving my watchtower and awake in the mail (I let it expire, they use to renew for me, well whatever), I would read the titles, What is this World so Horrible? When will their be no mor Sickness? Why is the World so Immoral? (Not real titles, but you get the point). And then I would think, how many times do they print something that is encouraging. How many talks have you heard that was totally positive. And when I ask myself, I realized that I had not heard many, if not NONE.

And to let you know, the mindset of the JW. My mom told me her new Circuit Overseer was cleaning house, he had demoted, deleted 3 ministrial servants and 1 elder from their congregation. And he was making some real changes (she was speaking as if this was positive). I commented, What did he tell your congregation that was upbulding, what WERE you doing right. She chuckled and said, well we have alot to work on. So you can see, JW are conditioned to hear misery and think of it as encourgement. This is SO sad.

What The Presiding Overseer Sees

in my opinion, any one today, that takes the wts very seriously, their opinions, their thoughts, their recommendations, either in what they write, print or teach publicly from the platform, is usually a novice or a very new person, in his association with the organization itself.. if the wts were to cry "wolf," [the end is here, time is short] very few would listen.

this is because as abraham lincoln once said:.

"...you can't fool all of the people, all of the time.".

Thanks for your post. Because I think you answered the question I have been asking myself for the past weeks. I have a father who is an elder and I have been so angry with him, after reading the letters that the elders received about Child molesters. I was disgusted because I could not understand how my father could protect such vile indiviudals, being that he has 3 daughters and 4 grandaughters. But your post help me to realize and also knowing my father, that he really blames the people for not adhering to WT dogma. I really believe he thinks it is the molesters fault as well as the victim, because of not preaching more, studying more.

And as you said the ones who do know that it is wrong. They are so into the privileges and they wonder where will I go. I know this is the question, my father keep asking me. And I tell him I will go with God and leave that man-made religion alone.

But I still feel a little angry at the elders and the high ranking individuals. I really feel it is horrible, and I wonder how many of them sleep at night.

last night i stayed up all night, (not unusual for me though) and read the posts by ......well you know...the new kid on the block...who created so much fury.

at first i thought she was a fake, and i still do.

Glad you joined, I'm new to this board, also. I find it a wonderful place, I'm practically addicted to it. I've had a long sorrid life in the walls of the watchtower, and look forward to hearing some of your stories, or should I say TRUTHS. lol. Everytime I say the word TRUTH, it makes me laugh. But as many can say, it feels great to be able to finally LAUGH at the TRUTH.

Confusion Abounds!

does anyone else out there feel like a color blind person trying to solve a rubiks cube?

lol....that's they way i've felt for a while now!.

just had a long discussion with my mom about some of my questions.

Eye opened,

I had a similar conversation with my mom. And to tell you the TRUTH, lol, I was shocked that she at once felt the same way. She gave me some encouraging JW talk as your mom did. But I went away from that conversation knowing I would never return to that created atmosphere.

I myself being involved with the JW org. for a little over 30 yrs., and realize the clean, organized environment was created. Do you remember the Kingdom Ministry before every assembly, instructing us how to clean, how to behave, how to dress, how to tip, etc.

But now that I'm free of that created environment. I have witnessed people, with that same love who are free to discuss their feelings. Just yesterday, I visited a local Baptist Church. I went to their morning services (was greeted very warmly), then after enjoying the sevices I decided to see what their Sunday School was like. My husband and children decided they did not want to attend Sunday School and I noticed alot of other families that split at this point (and no one seem to be embarassed or apologetic). The Sunday School lesson was wonderful, they were discussing Barnabus, the son of encouragement. My point is this, that many had different opinions of the lesson and expressed them well. And I did not see one person who was agitated. And then a question was directed to me, - the question being how do I think I could spread the word of the Gospel with encouragement. Being that I do not necessarily believe in Jesus in the manner in which they did. I replied as such and said I just chose to love and not spead any certain message. Can you believe some said that agreed, but they still had faith that Jesus was their savior. Anyway I left there feeling very good. I felt good because, even though they did not agree, at least they listened and acknowledged my opinion. And I KNOW this is not the attitude you would ever get from the JW.

Well that is just one example of love I have experienced outside of the org. I think we create our own experiences, when I was looking for so-called worldly people to be mean spirited, immoral, etc., those are the one I seemed to notice. But now when I look at people as people, and not worldly or christian or black/white, etc. I find just WONDERFUL, interesting and mostly loving people.

Well that's all I got to say about that for now.

Happygirl,

I'm glad you are happy. And it's too bad you are disfellowshipped and female. Because from reading your posts, it seems you would make an excellent elder. But I do not enjoy the tone of your post, because there are many who come here for comfort and encouragement and your post would scare some away. I have been coming here for a short time, but I can say that I'm glad you were not visiting then. And whatever you purpose is here, why can't you do it without being so insulting.
