It sound like a writer who do not understand the JW dynamics.

I do not want to go into details...but someone close to me was sexually molested as a child by a JW. I don't think the perp being JW contributed..but this person was just a sick person. As I believe in this story.

What I do like is that the parents loved their child enough to report it. Many may not agree with me...but I really believe children or anyone who have been sexually violated and choose to ask the brothers (WTBS) how to handle their situation is horrific and they should have to deal with their choice of not seeking help for their minor child.

It was something that I did not give thought to as a JW.

I really don't understand thinking about destruction. And I guess that's why I did not make a good JW.

i think i found a church

i really enjoyed church today, i have been visting serevel in the last few weeks, all the ones i have been to have been okay, but no more, but today i felt comfortable with everything i seen.

it seemed very doctrinally sound, christ centered and the big bonus i did not hear a word about money!

they did not pass a plate(i dont know if they do but today there was none).

Flyinghighnow...this is exactly how I feel about church.

and my the first church that I attended when leaving JW was Uniterian....and what a wonderful experience. First the Pastor was Gay and had a wonderful partner. They had a diverse crowd, that love life and acceptance of people, culture, religion, etc.

Right now I belong to a nondenomination Christian Church. I don't always agree with the Pastor, but I love his passion for people. And what is awesome is that it's ok that I don't agree with him or any other person at the church. I can come and enjoy the service and feel free to be who I am or where I am in my spiritual journey.

And I really believe if you go looking for the perfect Church...you will definitely find fault. You should start your journey on finding and growing yourself.

in an effort to keep their delusion alive it is only natural for them hate something that lifts the vails of their delusion and lay it barren.

their hate is transfered to the faithful rank and file and manifested in their forbidding it to the young who will surely see the ignorance of their delusion.

narcissistic delusions of divine appointment are resisted at the expense of the young.. they hate higher education to the same extent they hate psychiatry because both tread on their delusion and identify it in clear terms..

Education gives you freedom. You are in an environment of many thoughts with a diverse group of people.

You get to see that what the JW have been teaching is not as they have taught. You get to see everyone is not like your ethnic group, your family, you city, your state. This is one of few places where you will have such a diverser group of thoughts, experiences.

It's a place where many are gaining independence from childhood. It's the gateway to adulthood and your own thought.

...so this is one of many reasons why they do not encourage education.

Unstapableravens if you believe in the word...then tithing is an act of obedience...it all belong to God.

But giving is something that I have found very freeing after leaving the JW. The monies given to church (at least mine) help pay salaries to those who have chosen to give the life to help others learn the gospel. It help pay for rents/food/shelter/clothing for those in need (and you do not have to be a member of the church...you don't have to be a believer...you just have to have a need).

I think this is what I love most about leaving the JW...if you passion is preaching, then you can get paid for it, it your passion is playing music you can pursue your craft and get paid for it. This is very refreshing, because also the church encourages you to pursue higher education, training to become a more effective Preacher, Christian Counselor, Musician, etc.

If you attend a above the board church...they will have a yearly or even quarterly review of the finances.

...not saying you are thinking this way unstopableravens....but some ex-jw still have the JW talk in their head about churches just wanting money...the good part about a good church...you are not being judge if you give or not. No one really care.

i'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.

reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.

a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.

Do other churches use the name Jehovah?

i have seen on this site recordings of jw elders at tribunal meetings claim other churches hate the name jehovah.

one former baptist now jw elder said other churches hate the name and never use it.

How do you think the Memorial should be celebrated? How are you going to spend it?

for the first time, i realize that many people have different views about this.. some people believe that all should partake, others don't believe that there should be a memorial.. some are going to the hall, others are having their own celebrations still others are just going to be doing normal activities.. how do you think the memorial should be celebrated?

I partake every Sunday. My church serve the emblems every Sunday at the first service. I wish we could get real wine like the JW.

But I did receive an invitation from my father. It made me think about going to the KH for the memorial...I use to enjoy it as a kid. I would get new clothes, have my hair styled at the hairdresser. Ane when I was big enough, I was allowed to pass the wine and cracker on my own. lol....but truthfully I cannot every remember listening to the talk given. As I remember...it was so DAMN boring. Now I cannot understand why did my non believing relatives committ to coming back.

I have not been to a KH in years (cannot remember the last time I stepped inside one)....but I'm kind of curious...I just might find one and attend on Tuesday...hmmmm :) So I have a question...If I decide to partake..Do I dring the whole glass or just take a sip?
