When should you Disassociate yourself?

i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.

the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.

my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

Remember at the beginning of this post I mentioned my sister. Well she was the first person I started revealing my doubts with when I first knew that the organization was NOT God's (and this was before I ever got on the Internet). She agreed with most of my sentiments (and they were strongly voiced, expletive and all), but she had the normal JW arguments. Well I would go on and on and on, but then I started noticing she was avoiding me and that my father was telling my mother to be careful about discussing things with me. So from this experience and many of your posts, I have learned to wait and to gradually let some of the falisies of the Org. out. Now my sister call me a least once a week and my brother who is very non JW, and I listen mostly and let her come to her own conclusion. Which has been great, because I told her about this site (she has no computer yet) and told her about this thread, and she agreed with you all. It is none of the JW business, that's the only problem she see with the Org. so far, is that we tell them too much of our business. She says she has no plans on leaving, but is looking forward to a new and improved Org. (reformed). Well that's another topic.

Well maybe not - she did state, that she feel they will become more liberal on disfellowshipping and disassociation. I think they may, but only to keep the numbers strong. You know that's another post.

Are you Ex's still Christian?

whassup guys.

i've spent most of my web time over the last 2 years at another site full of ex-jdubs...i'd say about 50 people post there on occasion...many of that number regularly.. what struck me from the beginning, as i got to know the people posting there was...how many were now atheists...non-believers in god...the bible...pretty much anything they once held sacred as jw's!.

i dare say...90 some % do not consider themselves christian now!.

And Girl, if you started a Church, organization, etc. I would go against my beliefs and Join. (on the condition, that I could TRULY be entitled to my opinions.

I do believe in GOD, but the GOD of the Bible is hard to take. For one a God who would chose a people (when we are all his children). And another thing one who does not hold some responsiblity for his wicked creation (Satan). The bible does state man is created in his image, so I reason would all of his creation reflect some of him. I'm a parent and realize WHATEVER bad behavior my child is acting out is somewhat related to what I have taught or allow to be taught to them. But as others have mentioned, I'm in the process of learning and hoping to evolve into a higher state. So I'm ending by saying I'M WHERE I NEED TO BE AT THE TIME (and LOVING it).

And by the way I identify myself as HUMAN, LOVING, GENEROUS (most of the time, BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, KIND, AND JUST PLAIN AWESOME.

I feel for you deeply and have sent up many prayers for you. You are where many have been and thankfully there is no turning back. Right now I think you are afraid of the unknown (don't be - it is proably not as bad as you think). I think right now you are doing all of the right things. You are WHERE YOU NEED TO BE (accept and love it). I think you should continue to work on YOURSELF (and learn to love yourself) and don't work on your husband. One thing I have been blessed to experience is TRUE LOVE and I received this love from my WORLDLY HUSBAND. He put up with me when I was a pompous goody 2 shoe JERK. He put up with me when I was severely depressed (because of my finding of my TRUTHFUL religion). He put up with me now that I'm assertive and loving (which was kinda hard for him, because remember he fell in love and married me as a JW). So if your changes help you to find yourself you have gain the world and if your husband, friends, etc. don't come to appreciate the authentic you and love you for what they want, is it really love? That's a question you have to answer and be ready to answer. But believe me when you do, you will feel so much power, it won't matter WHAT ANYONE thinks BUT YOU (and that's not selfish or harmful, but what GOD WANT FOR ALL OF HIS CHILDREN) I feel he wants us all to be HAPPY.

I have tear streaming down my face from laughing from your experience. You see those are the type of experiences the JW need to keep awake. Thank you for the laughter.

And I would like to relate something that just happened Sunday. At 8:30 a.m on Sunday my phone ringed, on the other end was a friend from a former congreation I had attended. She started off the conversation by apologizing for call so early, but she was in desperate needs. He furnace had gone completely out and she was wondering if my financial circumstances could allow me to help out (she is a single sister with a son with a limited income and a homeowner), I ask her how much was she in need of (I have a little money) - she stated she need $2,000. I responded I don't have that much - did you talk with the brothers (referring to elders) - she said yes and BRo. such and such referred her to a contractor. She not knowing that I am now VERY inactive, I replied that all he could do for you. She said yes and apologized for him by saying the same thing happened to such (you know the JW mindset) Anyhow back to the story, being that now I volunteer for charities and I know about such a program that assist people as her I referred he to this Organization and told her the monies received come from the local churches, she did not say anything, but did ask for the name and number of such organization. Now that I have this little story out, I'm going to try come back to my point.

Of all of the things they tell us is our Service to God is, why not bring across the message of helping his children and especially our brethern of our own faith. Oh my goodness I'm so overwhelmed with expletives that I must end this topic.

But one final word. THE BEST SERVICE WE CAN GIVE TO GOD IS TO HELP OUR FELLOW MAN WITH LIVING TODAY AND NOT IN SOME PARADISE (WHERE i HOPE YOU WILL NOT NEED A FURNACE).

What are the reasons?

hi all,.

someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part,only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

I have been following this thread, and one thing that drives me a little crazy, is addressing our Father by his name. I think it is great that we know our Father's name. But to address him by Jehovah, just seem so disrespectful I always thought this as an active JW, and now find it deplorable knowing what I know about the WTBTS. When we ask our earthly fathers, we would never call him Jim, Bob, George, but affectionately dad, daddy, father, papa, etc. So I wonder how does God feel when we pray and address him as Jehovah.

And another thought, just think the WTBTS says that's what set them apart from the other religions, it that they are the ONLY religion that call the Father by his name. A name that they inserted into the their translation, and a name that we are not sure we are pronouncing correctly.

Well that's just my 2 cents.

Good News

matt.24:14. this good news will be preached in all the earth and then the end will come.. we have all remembered that verse,studied that verse and preached that verse.. the wts uses that verse to keep the jws going door to door.. of course,the wts also says we (everyone on earth)must become a jw in order to have gods favor.. i was having a discussion with a born again christian and he said the good news that is to be preached is about jesus having come and having been put to death for our transgressions.

so that we can now aproach god on the basis of the sacrifice.

in the name of jesu christ.. the wts says the good news to be preached is about the kingdom that is to come.. what do you think the good news that jesus spoke of is?.

I hope what you say is true. When the members going out outnumber the members coming in, then we will know that the Good News has been preached.

Platlets...can WTBTS policy be defended?

if this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .

the following is something i read on at another site.

there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.

Logical,

I think the blood issue was the same as the fat issue and the port, a dietary concern, probably because of no refrigeration. If I not correct someone let me know.

But a blood transfusion is not eating blood, it's basically the same as an organ transplant.

Frenchy,

I find the future is a main concern with those who have a somewhat Christian background. The only reason to be good is so you don't have to go to hell, or so you don't lose paradise. What's wrong with doing the right thing, because you want to.

I believe if you live your life in the moment (and make sound decisions) then your future will work out fine. But I find people who do things, only for what the future outcome will bring, most time have selfish motives. Whereas, the JW putting in hours, is it really to save lives or to save theirs - and also to get the praise from the other shallow people.

That's my 2 cents
