I loved your explanation and it is logical, but it still make me wonder. Why would God give you free choice and then punish you for it. He created man, so he knew their nature. I think the Adam and Eve story and others are great stories. But, I still cannot think of my creator as being one to desert his children - by allowing Satan to continue to tempt and torture his children is sadistic in my opinion.
And I don't want anyone to think I hate God or that I don't believe in God, because I do. But I don't think the God of the Bible is necessary my God. But I'm still studying this point. At this point of my understanding, I find God in nature, myself, other people (even bad qualities, I feel those are lessons to be learned).
Well I'm going to end for now, because my beliefs are hard to pin down or hard for me to explain in writing. So as I tell many. Right now I consider myself a loving human who is trying to understand.

Advantages of being a JW
by ISP inclearly there is a great deal of anti-jw sentiment here and elsewhere for that matter.
such feelings are generally directed at those at the heart of the organisation and there are no such feelings for the rank and file who are often very genuine people.. in actual fact there are some advantages in being a fully loaded jw and to be fair it would be interesting to note them down.
they can be factual or whimsical or both.

I have attended 7 different congregations in 4 different states and you are right they are practically the same. I would experience de ja vu quite often. I quess that is an advantage of being a JW, you know what BS to expect.

And one more thing, most things they teach about other religions is wrong or one-sided. They only report on the bad of the religion, I guess that is ok, if they would also report the good. But I find they report the bad points of other religions to smoke screen what is so bad in their house. Matt. 7:3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? (New KJV) I hate quoting scriptures (I'm not a Bible thumper), but that one does apply.
And one more question, why would they need to report on a religion. How about just reporting on God.

The idea of God having a chosen people, is the MAIN reason I don't think the Bible is accurate.
A good example is God letting Adam and Eve die, but allowing Satan to live. Satan was perfect when he went against God.
I wish someone could answer this question with good logic and not a bunch of scriptures (that I have yet to read that answer this question). Why would our father create us and then choose a favored people? When he created all of us. Is he not happy with his work. It's like me choosing which of my children I want to feed, clothe and protect.

I think you should be able to live your life as you see fit. If you don't believe you are jeopardizing your OWN integrity, then go for it. But IMHO, it would be a HARD way of life, being that you would never be able to express your true feeling without being labelled spiritually weak.

Any suggestions?
by happytobefree inafter reading the posts in parenting re: spanking and the wol thread, it made me ask: is there anything we can do as an individual or group to stop the abuses of the wtbs?.
i know i personally take any watchtower or awake articles i see placed in places (laudromats, hospitals, etc.
) and discard them.

I by no means meant to suggest a hate crusade. I feel no malice toward any JW, because I know they think they are doing what is right. I was once one, and really thought it was a Nirvana.
But I do feel the non-JW should know the whole truth about this organization. Because I'm sure many would never have considered becoming a JW, if they had known what the WTBS was REALLY teaching.
This gentleman I use to work with was instrumental in showing me what I was really believing and who I was really serving. He was very kind, but when he would show me from the bible using the NWT with a Hebrew/Greek bible dictionary to disprove the JW teaching, my heart would start beating faster, breathing harder. I'm laughing now, but I really thought he was putting demons on me. I was always praying for this guy, because I wanted Jehovah to save him. And he later told me he was doing the same for me. My point of this is - I feel his ministry has saved not only me, but my immediate family and 3 bible studies (or book studies)that I had at the time. I never committed or join his church or have taken in the concept of chriantianity (I don't consider myself a christian), but because of our discussions - I now consider myself a loving human being who is
