  hi, dfs.. first of all, let me say it is not necessary to label yourself on this board, or anywhere on the internet for that matter.. so many of us have family members that are df'd, it really doesn't hold much water round here.

  i did have some questions for you though, which of course you don't have to answer.. 1. why were you disfellowshipped?

  I would not be one of the "WE". I have very much so enjoyed your post, and being that I'm a daughter of an elder, I definitely understand and relate.

  And I'm also an inactive-JW who was very proud of voting in my first election. When I walked out of the voting booth, I was so over-come with joy. I can say it was a moment right up there with the birth of my children, the marriage of my great husband, the day I realized the JW religion was full of lies and everything vile.

  So keep on doing what your WONDERFUL conscience dictates and not what some forever changing religion wants.

  Advantages of being a JW

  clearly there is a great deal of anti-jw sentiment here and elsewhere for that matter.

  such feelings are generally directed at those at the heart of the organisation and there are no such feelings for the rank and file who are often very genuine people.. in actual fact there are some advantages in being a fully loaded jw and to be fair it would be interesting to note them down.

  they can be factual or whimsical or both.

  one of the reasons is that people are disturbed by what is happening in their churches.

  yes, millions of persons have been shocked to learn that things they were taught as being vital for salvation are now considered by their church to be wrong.

  have you, too, felt discouragement, or even despair, because of what is happening in your church?

  This writing department at the WTBS should have this scripture posted (like those yearly scriptures in the KH) on the wall, on their computer, stamped on pencils and pens:

  Matthew 7:3 - And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? NKJV

  And wisely counselled to report only about God and not about any other religion. If you are not in or have been in any particular religion, then you do not have enough knowledge to report.

  I think the WTBS reporting BAD reports about other religions is SO very wrong. Even as a JDub, that was one thing I could not understand. If the JW religion is as great as they proclaim, then only give reports on their ACCOMPLISHMENTS. But when you think about it, they don't have much to boast about. We have preyed upon the disenfranchised and delivered them a false hope of Paradise.

  Amen sister Wendy and to Roaming. When I read that H2O is closing down, the first thought that came to my head - I hope they start a new site and don't come to this one (at least not the nasty posters). I enjoy the spirit of this DB, open and free, yet not mean spirited.

  Wendy,

  That is a great suggestion. And I can say it can work. My elder father said he did not want to talk to me anymore. I was hurt at first, but knowing how the JW mindset work, I accepted his choice. But I choose to do as I have always done for my DAD and that is to love him. So whenever I would hear he was sick, I would call him and ask how he was doing. He would start off saying I told you I could not talk to you. And I would reply - that's your choice, but I love you and I don't care if what religion you choose or how you feel about me - I'm going to continue to love you and to have concern over your well being. Well to make a long story short, we now talk at least once a month. He call to see how the grandkids are doing (he LOVES them to death), and yes he still reminds me to come back to Jehovah and my response is - I never left him and I always end the conversation with I LOVE YOU. It took a while to get our relationship to this point, but I don't think it would have made it this far - if I had chose not to continue to let him know that I love him no matter what. And another thing, he has been talking to my brother about some organizational problems (brother was never baptized). So I see this as a sign that all is not well in paradise.

  So Grunt, maybe with prayer and letting your daughter know (which I know she know) she is in your heart and you only want what is best for her. Because as I always say: You will know God's people by the love they show.

  I stand by my OPINION of DF, if he was in good standing with the WTBS he would not be here. And he would put us in the same light as any good JW - as being an APOSTATE.

  I was never Disfellowshipped, but was disassociated before i was baptized (they use to do this to unbaptized publishers), and I know I would have never associated with known APOSTATES at that time. Because I still thought the WTBTS was God's chosen organiation and I felt they would have made my condition worse (being spiritually weak). And I strongly defended the WTBTS as if I was one of the most faithful (even though I was DA'd). I was a company person put on probabtion. But i did not have any problem associating with so-called worldy people (the fornicators, drunkards, and the likes), because there was still hope for these people and I hoped that they would one day accept the JW faith.

  I never said you should not post, or I thought negatively about your post. I just find your beliefs (re: associating with known apostates), to contradict with what you say you want to do (return to the organization). I was wondering out loud (by posting), why a person who is sincere about returning to the Organization, would be here. I have a sister who is disfellowshipped and when i tell here to investigate the WTBS or speak anything that would seem to be offensive - she instantly changes the conversation. Even though she has not been inside a KH in about 1 1/2 years.

  So my questions would be: Why are you REALLY here? And I don't buy your reply about finding other Disfellowshipped ones who are trying to get back. Because I know if you want to get back, the people you should be talking to - is the judicial committe who disfellowshipped you.

  DF,

  You seem to be a REAL company man (WTBS), why do you waste your time on this type of db, if you are really interested in returning. From reading your post. I get the impression that you wholeheartedly (great JW term) believe everything the WTBS has ever printed and would die for every word. So it would seem (even though you are Disfelloshipped) that this type of DB would make you spiritually weak (in the JW definition) or hinder your progress in returning.

  Not that I'm trying to persuade you to stop posting. But what is your real reason in coming here - To reconvert the apostates? Even though I don't personally buy a person who has true faith or beliefs can be persuaded to leave their convictions. Which make me wonder - As a JW when someone spoke of doubts or questions that made me think, I would think they were trying to hurt me or change me. But now when I hear others doubts/questions about any subject, I think, wow, that's a interesting way to think about that - But I never think of them hurting me or changing my views.

  i was just thinking about, and contrasting, the thoughts i have now, with the general mental inclination, spiritually speaking, that i carried for all the years of my life till a few months ago.. thinking this about myself, and perhaps jw's in general, tell me if it rings true for you:.

  i thought i knew where to turn for food that was spiritually satisfying.

  turns out, i was getting a spiritual pacifier.. i thought that i was satisfied, spiritually.

  That is a profound statement. Because the WTBS does stop growth - spiritually and mentally. You express what I have been feeling, but not able to put into words. Thanks
