40 Years Today

yes that's right reopened mind and me have been married 40 years ago today.

we had a little party today at our uu congregation.

we brought wine for the pot luck dinner we had today.

Do any ex JW' s/ God believer's, Agnostics or Atheists believe in Karma? And WHY?

just reading a thread and the mention of karma popped up.

( it happens, lol).

a lot of people believe in karma: what goes around comes around.. some months ago, while on another exjw site, karma was mentioned and i thought it a little odd, as they are atheist.

I've always noticed that when people talk about their previous lives, it always seems to be that they were someone grand. I never heard of someone who was say, a quarry slave or a farmer.

My Mom is in the hospital

my mother broke her hip last week.

she had an emergency partial replacement surgery friday night.

we don't know how she did it as we have caregivers with her at all times, she may have fallen while in the bathroom for a few minutes.

So nice to have her in your home and that you and your siblings care about and love her. I think it's an honor to help her pass on. Treasure your moments together they will be with you a long time.

Terrys New Book

i just finished reading terry walstroms new book i wept by the rivers of babylon, and i just had to say that i thoroughly enjoyed it!

i just purchased the kindle version from amazon about a week ago and found it quite hard to put it down.

What if I am a disfellowshipped public school teacher?

could a parent put in a complaint to the school district and request that their child be transferred out of my classroom because i am exjw?

if they give me the jw school brochure (do they still do that?

sorry its been 16years since i've been out) can i just tell them i'm familiar with their teachings or should i just pretend i'm new to their teachings?....i'm a freshman in college so i have still a long ways before this situation is presented, however i"m trying to get prepared for it.

Look at it as an opportunity to be an advocate for those poor children. You have insight and empathy, you can look for ways to help them have self esteem, confidence and more.

Any one from Ireland? Happy St. Patrick's Day. How do you celebrate?

hello all, i know st.patrick's day is about over.. i was just curious how many of you observed the holiday.

i live in the usa in the south west.

where i live we have a large population of native americans and hispanics.. so st.patrick's day is low key.. we wear green and talk about drinking green beer.. i started to wonder what a real celebration would entail.. i dressed as a lepercaun for story time..

btw it's St Paddy's day. Not Patty.

Paddy is derived from the Irish, Pádraig: the source of those mysterious, emerald double-Ds.

Patty is the diminutive of Patricia, or a burger, and just not something you call a fella.

i don't subscribe to anything supernatural anymore.

but i wanted to experience it just for the simple pleasure of it.

since i don't believe anymore it has zero guilt and can just be fun.

I went to a Women's summer soltice celebration a couple years ago. It was 4 days with lots of things going on. All kinds of woo woo stuff as Hortensia calls it. I just wanted to experience it too. I really liked it. In my cabin all the gals were into different things and someone did the Tarot cards on me. I don't remember being overly impressed with her interpretation.

i keep hoping and doing searches on the site for people in my area.

so far no one i recognize.

i have a few df'd friends that i lost touch with long before they were out (two who were elders actually when they got the boot) and would love to find out they were on here, but don't know if they plan on coming back.

yes, cool experience. I noticed she was from my home state. I messaged her. Turns out we went to the same high school and had a class together. She signed my yearbook! Now we are FB friends. I visited her last summer when I went home for a visit. Her name here is Emma.
