watchtower.org and freeminds demonized at study
by heathen inas we were digesting the spiritual food at the bookstudy tonight [yes i actually had to see this for myself] the topic of watchtower.org and freeminds came up from the elder in charge of the study.he flagrantly discredited freeminds with verbal sarcasm and distain and condemned watchtower.org as apostate and totally demonized the website .during this he mentioned he was not abliged to answer any of the questions that may have been raised about the society and beliefs because he felt that jesus didn't always answer the pharisees with what they would have expected like something that would incriminate himself.then the term legal department was brought to the fore.i really couldn't believe this is their reaction to inquiring minds.

Do JW's pay tithing?
by Double Edge ina friend of mine said that jw's paid tithing.
i've never heard it mentioned on this board - is this true, and if so is there a set amount?
it's biblical so i would expect the jw to say something about it.

natas- I was merely relating my observations of the congregation I was attending .I was never a JW but I did attend meetings and one of the things that came to mind after reading this thread was a time when one of the church members was talking about other individuals who refused to pay tiths. As to whether it was in the watchtower I wouldn't know I do not read the watchtower on a regular basis but have read some.

From what I've seen the jw tried the paying of tiths but too many people balked on it .This is really not a christian requirement .THe new testament clearly states in the acts of apostles that the new converts were required to sell all of their worldly belongings and devide it up and share as we see the corruption that set in on that issue cause the jews wanted to have more than the gentiles. I have seen first hand the chananagans the WT pulls at the conventions in order to increase the the flow of money by making announcements of being short during a convention than towards the end a guy strolls out on the stage and states they have met and exceeded their requirements.Kind of reminded me of telethons or something. They also tried this technique in the local congregation where every month they seemed to come up short ,they had to borrow money from brooklyn ...... yadda yadda

This was not the topic of the book study. We were covering the Isaiah book chapter 29. This was something the conducter pulled out his ass because he saw some new faces such as mine there, and I believe it was also due to gossip about my internet activities .

How I became a JW - Part 1
by Amazing inhow & why i became a jw part 1 of 10
introduction: when we leave the jw religion, there is no shortage of those who ask, "what caused you to leave the watchtower?
" subsequent to leaving jehovah's witnesses, we may spend a number of years unraveling the effects of the jw religion in our family and personal life, business activities, social experiences, and spiritual views.

IMO -I believe that the jw should not put these restrictions on their children who go to publlic schools.I think things would go better if the children just remained neutral not trying to convert classmates and causing disruption but I also believe that people in public schools should not try to force politics and religion on children.A child is not considered to be a minister therefore should not feel the responsibilities of the church.Children cannot vote or be drafted so therefore should not be required to display patriotism.
