Can God Self Destruct?
by StinkyPantz inthis question of course goes out to all of you that believe in god (preferably the god/creator of the bible); not you atheists.
if god is all powerful then shouldn't he be able to kill himself?
i'm not saying "would he", but if he is all powerful, then why couldn't he?.

some areas the major income is from kidnapping for ransom.

I would have to say no . It would not be ethical to deal with terroists by giving into their demands. No I don't think the wt would fork over any dough to get one of their own .I think it is illegal to fund terrorism . Yes that is the way the wt views the ransom saccrifice of jesus .

NEW LIGHT!!!!!!!!!
by minimus inwe heard new light this evening.
a local needs talk was given about how anyone that knows someone might be dating a non- witness and doesn't report it to the elders is actually hindering the free flow of jehovah's holy spirit.
yes, if the "sin" goes unreported, the whole congregation will be affected, just as in the case of achan and his family!

That's pretty sad ,I mean what if you get tired of waiting on jehovah to give up some booty ? What's a guy to do?

How do JW's define god in reference to Jesus?
by pseudoxristos inin a group on yahoo, i'm involved in a discussion about the deity of jesus.
i've asked the witnesses there to give a specific definition of the word god (in reference to jesus) in john 1:1. so far they have not responded.
i was wondering if any current jws or or former jws here could give me a the proper watchtower definition/view.

From past encounters with the jw and reading some of their literature ,they view the word god as a lesser meaning than the word GOD. In capitals it would refer to jehovah and in lower key could be used in reference to satan, jesus,or just about anyone with any kind of autority such as government or perhaps people with extraordinary ability and skill ,like rock stars ,sports figures what the hell, movie stars.

i try not to hide in my basement anymore though, shuddering in a corner, reading a book by flashlight waiting for them to pass.
unplugging all electrical applicances, telephone outlets, like a mad woman... looks like we're gonna get one tonight, it's getting closer to us, as per weather.com.

We could really use one of those here in texas right about now ,I just hate it when it gets so dry and you breath in clouds of dust seemingly. As long as I am at home and there are no tornados and hail brewing I don't mind a good thunderstorm.I just hate driving in that kind of weather or being outside at work ,no thank you.

Grits - that wouldn't surprise me in the least but that would also be a lie and we know who the father of the lie is RF- That's a good question BM - interesting analogy or assumption I was thinking along the lines of John the baptist who never really became a christian although he prophesied about the messiah.
