ok i'll start.. 13 y/o or so.. once it rained for a month straight.
we had an old dry tank dump in the back that filled up with water.
there were tons of frogs that showed up and started breeding.. i was looking at them on the edge of the water through my .22 scope.
I ate the little purple flower necter too.. :-)
Basiclly anything my brothers tried, so did I... didn't want to be called a sissy...
rabbit, squirrel, fish, crawfish, worms, an assorment of strange plants, cat food, alagator tail, dirt, raw potatoes, uncooked spagetti, dandylions, sand, and a minnow.
but wouldn't try rolly polly's... cause I thought they were cute.

I guess my observation is:
If you want to know if Jesus saves, you must determine what you want saved from.
Salvation is provided to those who wish to find it.
2Co 7:10
For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.CL
i know, it seems like half of everyone that leaves turns athiest.... but for those of us out there, who figure on still being christian, have you found a translation of the bible that you belive lives "up to par"?
i'm really trying to research, but there's so many, i wondered if you had any input!.
thanks!.
Hi New Light
My favorite I use as my study bible, is the New King James Version. But I read several for comparison... the NIV and ESV sometimes the Good News, and the New Jeruselam Bible.
If you value accuracy more than the easiness of the reading, I would go with one that tends to the literal translations instead of the paraphrase.

Is Love Unjust?
Since the question was limited to the christian sphere.. as it pertains to God I will address it from that angle.
First, If we are to understand the statement made by John "god is Love"... then we should look at the entire book for context. For he explains his statement. We have to look at it from God's Justice, because that is whom we are talking about. We humans like to measure God by our standards of Justice. That is impossible. We are the creation. God teaches us, not the reverse. But he is patient with us, and tries to explain himself to us in ways that we can understand.
I agree with DD, there are many facets to love. One of the greatest given in the example of Jesus, who is the manifestation of God's love. He is described as the way, truth, and life. So these things would encompass the facets of God's Love. The one I want to note here is Truth. Really Truth and Justice are tied together. God's word is truth. He does not lie, therefore he has to be Just. Because he is the defination of Love also, he links these things together so that we can see there relevance in how we understand God's nature.
So if love is unjust, it is not God's love. I have noticed some like to pull out old testement example and state, but see, this is an example of how god was unjust and unloving, Ignoring the numerous examples of his love. Is that conclusion accurate? Does our words and judgement make it so? Well, I am afraid not, for we have not the vision, or knowlege to make such judgement.

2Jo 1:3
Grace will be with you, mercy and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.no matter how much you want to avoid it...crying is necessary sometimes.
for me, i need help with it....too many distractions in my life.
i almost have to plan crying....so for me music aides in releasing emotion, helps me just be me for an interval of time.
i don't know why i am always led back to jw's.
tonight i feel real confused.
i was searching the internet to try to find some evidence that jesus existed and that all religion is not just some great hoax.
Rusty,
It was nice to see you post. My heart feels for you, especially when you said this:
Tonight I feel real confused. I was searching the internet to try to find some evidence that Jesus existed and that all religion is not just some great hoax
I think you discovered something about Jesus without even realizing it. He was not in the JW religion. The elders, as the sister who abused her children did not display his qualities either. You were wise in seperating yourself from their lies and deciet. The fact that you have not or cannot find another religion to associate with is understandable.
Jesus does not exist in a Man-made "temple" or organization. There is not an organization he has set up to represent him. He explained this to his diciples and those who asked, for example the women at the well..
Joh 4:20
Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 4:21 Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem. :22 You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. 4:24 God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truthShe was asking Jesus in effect, I am not a jew(I do not belong to your religion) You say go here to worship, We worship here(at this temple, in this way). You are the messiah, and are here to reveal God to me, where should I go to worship him?
Is not Jesus answer astounding? He said it is not a place to go to worship, but a state, that being with spirit and Truth. Both spirit and truth is given to us by means of Jesus. He requested his father send us his Spirit, and Jesus is our Truth. So Jesus was explaining to the Women, I am your way to serve God. He further repeats this truth in John:
Joh 14:6
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me."The WAY" as Jesus says was not a religious group, an annointed body of men, or a building that claims to represent him, but the way IS JESUS.
So my friend, maybe your distaste for religion, for lies and impurity, is in itself an answer to your question about finding Jesus. Sounds like he has been with you for awhile, even if you have not realized it.
With his Love

There were times in my life that I felt unworthy of his love, and felt abandoned. Those times were very overwhelming because of the terrible things that were happening to me at the time, and how very very alone I felt. I thought that if he really loved me, he would not allow these things to happen, and would answer my prayers for it to stop. Because they did not stop for years, I did not feel he loved me. I continued to pray, but did not have confidence that he was hearing me at all.
I did not understand my God at the time, but later in life, he helped me, not only heal from what happened but to see things through his eyes, but most importantly to see his love for me. By understanding that he loves us, we can in turn give our love back to him, and to others. What an amazing gift he gives to us... loving us first.
That is my prayer, for all those who feel abandoned by our Father, that they feel and understand his love for them personally. That they know that they can trust him, and if we seek him, he will come close to us too.

at one hall i attended for serveral years had a lawn covering large man-made burms with trees and bushes.
it was a difficult yard to mow and maintain.
i have often wondered why we all pitched in and worked so hard for nothing.
Yeah sure did, I was in charge of the flowers and shrubs. I liked gardening, was willing to help, and thought I was bringing Glory to God by how pretty the flowers looked for Memorial.
I have to say though, I was usually stuck doing it alone, as no one else volunteered to help, even after I had a bad case of Arthritis. But I did get a KH key! haha I bet they change the lock after they label my husband and I as apostates!

ok... so my husband felt bad that the elders wanted to meet with us and he wasn't responding... so he set it up for saturday at 2 even though everyone said dont meet with them.
oh ya, and everyone said not to meet with them at your house, but again, he didn't want to rock the boat.
it's funny, though he was the first one to leave, he's still afraid and doesn't want to "raise any red flags" he's willing to just say "we're discouraged, can you just leave us alone fora while" feel free to yell at him (robert7).. here's the thing.
I really find this hard to swallow, how they can get away with this...like missile seekers hunting you down.
Even if you have done nothing to instigate these actions. This really boggles the mind at times.
I guess our day will be coming...........
hope4others
Hope 4 others,
It was CRAZY... They even marked us in the cong. before DAing us, and we weren't even attending or talking to others about how we felt. But when the elders came over we were very very straight forward and honest. And they were so very stunned that they didn't even attempt to open their Bibles. Funny huh, two elders, with two "weak sheep" and they don't even know what scripture to share.
The whole senearo was so absurd it is hardly believable, I'll have to tell it in it's entirety sometime.. but for now.. New light, hang tight it'll all work out for the best, and you'll breathe a sigh of relief.
