As my father said .."It is like a time out for a naughty child"
And as I replied "I will let you know when I feel like taking that time out in one of those uncomfortable back row chairs."

The JW funeral talk outline - poor taste or REALLY poor taste?
by Mr. Falcon inso i attended a funeral for a jw who passed away (non-"annointed) and i would have to state that although i have heard the standard funeral talk outline for dozens of funerals i've attended, i never really took the time to listen.
and my god, i was cringing.
the outline is essentially broken down like this:.

They always read the scripture..."better the day of one's death than the day of his birth..."
SUCH ABSOLUTE DISRESPECT - especially for someone that was not considered old. What were the parents thinking?..."Oh yes, we should be happy our child died - much funner than when she was born."

They really are pooping their pants over these latest "signs"...
by undercover ini've seen a few threads/posts where some of y'all have heard from jw contacts and how they've stepped up their 'the end is close' rhetoric because of the earthquake/tsunami in japan.
i usually take those things with a grain of salt.
there's always some jw whose cheese has slipped that reads prophecy into every little thing that happens.

Yes, the JW's that still communicate with me are absolutely ecstatic about the lastest earthquake.
This is just the kind of stuff the GB needs to keep the fanaticism going.
My parents are calling me around the clock in hopes of reaching my heart before I am sentenced to everlasting death. Thank God Spring Break is almost here, and my cell phone will not work where I am going. Maybe they will calm down by the time I get back.
Lost Generation - Great comparison

My oldest daughter spent her senior year at an all girls Catholic School in Sendai 3 years ago. Her host family contacted her last night to let her know that they are okay (despite not having any water). However, a lot of her friends she went to school with are unaccounted for. My heart breaks for these beautiful people. I wish there was more I could do.

No Part of The World Circuit Assembly Highlights
by DavinciCodeBreaker inwell this past weekend was pretty much as predicted, the demonstrations were probably the worst i have ever seen.
you know the ones i mentioned on a post last week where in the middle the participant has a sudden epiphany!
here is a sampling of just a few.. .

"...on Suday after the meeting they are going to have the speaker and his wife over for lunch and are loooking forward to their experiences. Lastly they are going to invte a couple that was recently on a foreign assignment to come over for dinner to share their experiences"
The above brings back Horrific memories of countless hours in the kitchen, followed by a dinner where the conversation was usually strained, awkward and uninteresting, then there was the huge mess I would get to clean up and then finally a very, very large glass of gin when everyone went home, followed by a few shots of tequilla.

“…scholars agree…”
In light of the fact that the GB consider themselves scholars, then we can assume the above two words are correct. They probably take a vote at the GB table and then can put in the Watchtower ...“…scholars agree…”

My brother is now being trained as a Circut Overseer.
by Voices ini received a phone call from my mother (who is still a jw, but very accepting of me still as her loving son, even though i was disfellowshiped for questioning the oranization and choosing the bible over the watchtower at that time).
she makes normal talk, just regular stuff pertaining to situations of ours.
about me coming to visit, and or her coming.

You are being too hard on yourself. It actually sounds like you have quite a bit going for you
- Your mother is still loving toward you (even though you are DF'ed). This is huge! You must have a wonderful mother
- You have a girlfriend that cares enough about you to voice her objection to alcohol
- You are free of any substance abuse
Let your mother and brother enjoy what seems like a blessing, everyone is entitled to a little happiness. Be happy for them.

What Doctrines or JW Views Did You Not Find Too Believable?
by minimus inthe thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.
you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

I had a hard time believing that the only spirit anointed people in my congregation were the child molester and the mentally ill, fibromyalgia sister

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?
by Cadellin inthis is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

I wish my exhusband could have woken up, but he will be a die hard JW until he does die. He loved and continues to love the religion way more than he could ever love a wife and children. I find that the brothers that were raised by a strong JW mother and a nonbelieving father tend to stick it out in the religion. Seems to have something to do with mother worship (just a thought)
