Life after death
by truthseeker ineveryone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .

Most Overblown Examples Used at Assemblies
by What Now? inat a recent assembly, there was a talk highlighting the dangers of higher education.
the brother used an example of a young girl who went to university, began going to bars, and ended up getting drugged and gang raped - as if this happens to every young jw who chooses to get higher education.. .
what ridiculous examples have you heard used at meetings or assemblies?.

I remember one of the CO's at our pioneer school giving the example of two regular pioneer sisters going door to door. They came across a worker in a cherry picker picking cherries. The sisters showed an interest in the cherry picker, so the cherry picker worker asked them if they would like to ride up in it. The sisters agreed. Well, at the end of the day, one of the sisters was in bed with the cherry picker.
For the life of me I cannot remember the moral of the story...I think it had to do with cherries.

I had not been to a meeting in 2 years. I wrote the body of elders to let them know my ex had grounds to remarry. They really desired the details; however I refused to ever show up for a committee meeting. The first committee gave up on me after I did not show up for a couple of meetings scheduled. They formed a new committee that started to harass me and schedule unattended committee meetings. I truly believe the first two committees did not want to DF me because not only were we all very good friends, but they were aware that a huge part of my leaving the Org was because my elder husband was a complete hypocrite that totally ignored his wife and daughters. A third committee was formed this time by elders that I did not know well at all. One being 28 years old, another one a couple years younger than me and third one who was only just appointed as an elder. I did not show for their committee and they promptly sent me certified letters that I never signed for. I learned through the grape vine that my name had been read at a service meeting.
I am so happy to be out.

What they DON'T tell you
by Black Man inhey everybody, i'm in the middle of an ongoing debate w/some jws and they are asserting that everyone knows what they're getting into when they are studying and getting baptized and that nobody forces anyone to become a jw and that you can leave anytime you want.
ok, we know that's not true.

Lack of true friends as a Witness
by stuckinamovement init was kind of a sad realization i had the other day that as a witness you are conditioned to not have friends.
i realize that most of this fact is related to my own stupidity and arrogance.
when i was in my teenage years i had a great group of friends that i ran around with.

I was worried that if I became too close to someone, how would I be able to fulfill my job as an Elder and perhaps one day disfellowship someone I really liked?
