Right after the birth of my first born, which was 15 years before I left. No one was ever going to tell me I could not save her life if she needed blood.

How many in the cong visited you when you started fading
by joe134cd ini'm just curious speaking from a person who has stopped going to meetings.
i have heard reports from inactive ones (or from ones who the elders suspect of going to the dark side) of having so many visits from elders (cong members) that it got to the point of harassment.
surprisingly i have to say from personal experience and from numerous others that i have spoken to that the exact opposite has been the case.

As soon as I wrote the letter to the PO that my ex had grounds to remarry, the harassment started without let up. They were calling around the clock. I had moved 30 miles away and they were pounding on the door frequently. One day my sister was at my house when the phone rang and I told her that I could not take the harassment anymore. She picked up the phone and told the elder that if they wanted to DF me that would be wonderful but to absolutely leave me the F... Alone and then she slammed the phone down and turned to me and said..."was that so hard?" They never bothered me again. I heard later, through the grape vine, that they DFed me. I had not been to a meeting or associated with any JW in a couple of years, however they felt the great need to make that announcement.

Don't tell me that I am a priority in your life
by KariOtt invalentines day.
another holiday that unbelieving spouses can't celebrate.
just one out of many holiday's and important days that we get the shaft on.

Kari, I can relate to so many things you said. I was married for 20 years to a man that devoted almost every waking minute to the congregation. I was invisible. He really did not have time for a job because he was always preparing a talk, making shepherding calls, fixing some sisters car or painting someones house for free. He only became more and more unbalanced. On our 20th anniversary he was up on stage giving the Memorial talk. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I filed for divorce that week and have never looked back. Since you still love him, all is not lost. I say put your foot down and start being heard.

That ending was so stupid. The elders cured Mary by telling her Job had it worse and now they will all have a cookie and sing Kumbaya

Some memorable quotes I dug up
by sd-7 incult members often isolate themselves from friends, family, and even society in general.
is that the case with jehovahs witnesses?
are the witnesses using deceptive and unethical techniques to recruit members?.

Were You Ever Comfortable Going From House To House?
by minimus inbecause i was raised a witness, i don't think i was "uncomfortable" knocking on strangers' doors.
(weirdo).. but as i got older, i simply didn't want to bother anyone so i was at there door for no more than 30 seconds.
at the end i hated being there..

I never was comfortable with it, even though I regular pioneered for a decade.
A slight highjack of this thread.....
Last week our doorbell rang during dinner and Bobby answered the door and told them we were having dinner. The women said they would come back and he said "Please do not". About an hour later the door bell rings again, by this time I am in my PJ's and Bobby is in bed, now the dog starts barking like crazy. I open the door and one of my cats runs out (and it was below zero at the time). I thought they must be nuts to be out knocking on doors in below zero weather. They were trying to sell internet service or something of the kind and I was really pissed. The heat and cats were escaping out the open door, the dog is waking up everyone in the house and they are trying to sell me something lame. I wondered what in the hell would possess people to do this.
It made me wonder how many people I did this to people through the years.

I have a college education because I read the Awake magazines. One magazine said we should wash our hands with soap after going to the bathroom. How can you put a price on an education like that?
