Before I left JW land, I confided to a number of my married female friends that I was getting huge bills from the phone company for #800...porn (thanks to the activities of my elder husband.) Every sister I confided in told me their husband was enjoying the pornography industry also. Most of these sisters were elder's wives.

it all went pear shaped from there on in, although most people believe it was an apple (boom tish).. but anyway .... either it was a literal serpent that could talk on it's own behalf or, as people typically believe, it was satan who was the puppet master and possessing the creature.. the first raises all sorts of questions that contradict the whole bible narrative (another creature that could reason, talk, debate existence and law etc...) so let's go with "the satan theory".. how does got react to his 'perfect' creation immediately being completely imperfect as soon as he takes it out of the box?
(he's like 0 for 4 ... satan, serpent, woman, man ... all break his rules).

One of the older publications (I'm thinking it is Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God) had a Garden of Eden picture with a snake that had stubby legs and feet.
Because of this picture, I was sure that I had secret knowledge of snakes that none of my school mates in the 3rd grade had.

It seems the key to converting an atheist is to not bring up science or the Bible....hmmmmm......but, they say to take genuine interest by talking about food. Active posters: What education have you had, what degrees do you possess?

i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.

There was not a whole lot in the documentary that I have not read on this forum first. A few things I did find interesting ......
- The amount of money they are worth compared to their membership is jaw dropping.
- They mentioned that Scientology is really a study into the mind of Hubbard and Hubbard was basically a cartoon writer. His religion came from his space themed comic books... 75million years ago Xenu froze people and dumped them in volcanoes.......
- When you misbehaved on Sea Org you were thrown overboard (I thought having your name read at the service meeting was embarrassing)
Even though the documentary offered few new tidbits for us to glean from, the show seems to have set off a fire storm for many others. I am very much enjoying all the "SHOCKED" twitters.
