As a newbie to this forum I stumbled across this thread and its accompanying thread about Christians and I find it interesting, that most of the folks commenting here about how horrid they think atheists are, are the same ones that were screaming bloody murder and claiming persecution in the other thread...
If it isn't right for it to be done to you... why is it ok for you to do it to them?
Why defend with such vigor your right not to be offended... but then turn around and offend others so avidly?
I should also point out that this thread is considerably longer than the other thread. The atheists just gave up in fighting with you guys after a few pages. But it seems this thread goes on and on with ad hominim attacks... Why so?
As a new comer this caught my eye and Im curious as to the justification that allows this kind of thing here. I thought the whole idea of this board was to give support to Ex-JW's not to bash christians/athiests...

Lou Belle:
Please read what I originally wrote. What I said was that the QUESTION was ignorant and insulting. Which I do find it to be such. I have said nothing about the person, save that I suspect she might be a troll.
Questions can most certainly be ignorant... all questions come from ignorance of some sort. If the person was not ignorant of the subject they were inquiring about they would not need to ask the question in the first place.
P.S. I still think its a troll. -

Some single older women in bad circumstances
by LongHairGal ini am saddened and angry to observe the pitiful situation some of my jw single female friends are in.
they are over 40 and have little work record, hardly any money and in some instances compromised health issues.
i am angry because these women were waiting for armageddon to come and save them.

I was just having a conversation with my mother about this...
There is a sister in my old congregation who is so pretty. Shes been married before, when she was younger... the guy turned out to be a total jerk and he walked out on her. She had to do the whole camping out in front of his apartment for months to see if she could get some "evidence" that he was cheating on her. After that, she was encouraged to "increase her ministry" and "go pioneer" to "combat the loneliness" she was feeling.
Fast forward to present day...
Shes still "pioneering" and is close to 50 years old. She works as a waitress and lives paycheck to paycheck, lives alone, often breaks down in tears at the KH and has to be rushed into the back room and comforted. The other day my mom and she were out in service and she broke down, burst into tears and started blubbering. Can you believe my mothers advice to her was that she wasn't busy enough, and that she was allowing loneliness to overcome her, and that she needs to spend more time studying and in the field ministry!?
The sad thing is that this woman has been trying so hard to get re-married. But she spends so much time studying and in the field ministry... she has NO time to find someone.
Do the old single guys in brooklyn care? Three guesses. -

They asked us.... and we LIED THROUGH OUR TEETH!!! We were not about to have to change our plans (that took 11 months and $12,000 to plan fully) just because some nosy prick wants to know something thats none of his business.
Also, they did make us have pre-marital meetings with an elder, once separately and two times together wherein he did tell my husband that he was not allowed to orally pleasure me because it was nasty and that he was not to allow me to orally pleasure him "even if the temptation was great" LOL!!!
This particular elder then went on to tell my husband that it was ok to "beat it up, and make her raw" though. Meaning that rough sex was ok, just not fellatio!
My husband was pretty disgusted when he left that meeting, and it wasnt too long after that he started having some doubts. To this day i often wonder what else was said in that meeting because he wont tell me all of it to this day.
The elders are creeps, and every last one of them gives me the willies. -

"Even if it isn't true" - how many of you heard this one recently?
by hamsterbait ini remember first hearing it after the generation change of 95.. a sister answered up at the wt and said "even if armageddon isn't coming, its still the best way to live.".
i have heard others say: "even if it isn't true, it's still the best way of life.".
my mother said it a few weeks ago!

most random scripture citation EVER
by veradico indid you ever notice, particularly in unimportant filler articles, that sometimes the writers of the society's publications cited scriptures which had very little to do with the subject at hand?
i'm not talking about the misleading use of scriptures, that is, when they would perpetrate amazing feats of eisegesis.
i'm talking about when they cited scriptures just because they felt like the sentence needed to end with a citation.
