i mean, i know the philosophy behind it; my mom would put a hat on to pray in front on my "unbelieving" dad.
I am a younger one and I remember the kleenex! At the hall in the library there was a bright pink scarf that was left there for such occasions. I saw the kleenex at a sisters house one saturday for field service, i remember wondering why she couldn't at least find something made of fabric in her own house to put on her head. Heck, I have scarves, but I wear them folded up as a headband, not like an old maid.
I love the car mat idea... I'm still giggleing about that one...

I have been in a situation where I thought a friend was mad at me, for weeks and weeks. I came to find out that she thought I was mad at her, but had some financial difficulties and didn't have email. She also didn't have my new number as I had just moved from Florida to Illinois.
She ended up finding my mom at her job and getting my number. I was so happy I cried when I talked to her! And she was DF'd YAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay positive until you hear it from her.

i am new here, i thought i would give a short overview of why i am here.
i was baptized at 14. even at that age i had a lot of questions that were shuffled aside by the elders or just avoided all together.
i really felt like i was doing the right thing, i was born into a large family with a suprising track record of no immediate defectors.

I have come across several creeps.
1.Sxxxxxxxx... He had a love for giving extra long hugs, the side hug, so he could squeeze your sholders in and make a good cleavage. He was an elder and in one of my elders meeting. It was very creepy, the other two elders were more interested in if I felt guilty or not and he wanted to know details about my sexual experiences, the elder in charge of the meeting had to keep telling him to stop. I can not they even let him on a commity like that. I some how escaped getting df'd a few times, not because of feeling guilty, but I am really good a crying on que.
2.Ranken... Converted from a prison, released and baptized, pioneer, molested a young boy. He served 2 years, and a few years later did it agian. They DF'd him the second time.
3.in the cong I attended in my latter teens, several men were baptized from the local prison. Two of them married single sisters from the hall, both had kids at home. One turned out to be okay(in there for money issues) but the other(convicted rapist) raped his young step daughter. So sad. My little sister is friends with the younger sister of the one that got raped. I am thankful that my mom was really strict about going over to peoples houses unless the mom was there.

Another few stories that I just remembered are,
1. Smurfs are evil. Did anyone else hear about the evil demonized smurf wall paper? I did, I had smurf toys before that, but my mother burned them.
2. Floating recliner boy. This was actually in a publication. I can't remember the whole thing but the gist of it was there was a sleeping boy in a recliner that kept tipping onto its corner and slamming back down. I will get back with the specifics when I fish out my Watchtower CD ROM.
I had an odd facination with these stories then and now. Especially the ones in the publications. I do enjoy the JW urban legends too.

What about all those wonderful stories we heard at conventions about money flying into a pioneers window? I could use some cash from angels hanging around outside my house... oh wait, I'm not worthy enough.
Do all the stories about modern day mini-miracles bother anyone else as much as me? Like the people that take every coincidence and turn in into proof that god was with them. What about my mother-in-law that was a pioneer dying in a car crash on her way home from a day of field service and kingdom hall yard work? Hey god, you missed one, if only you hadn't been blowing that 20 into that other sisters window. crap.
