  this is an excerpt from the final talk of the day, "remain in the secret place of the most high".

  i looked around as this explanation was being offered up, and the looks on the faces of people there was mostly disinterest.

  this is a very convoluted explanation that reminds me of someone running a con and trying to cobble together an explanation to deal with legitimate objections to their false claims.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/dodp4w.

  Kurtbethel - I heard the talk also at another DC. I got the feeling that the speaker himself was a bit uncomfortable, as though he wasn't even buying it himself. Did you get that impression at all? On the other hand, i realize all the speakers kind of sound like that, so emotionless, no inflection, etc, like they are bored with the whole thing. So i may be reading into it.

  He said in his intro, "We're going to just glance at that a little bit, because some of the brothers have had just a little difficulty putting it together. It's a little bit of an adjusted understanding, and then some clarification of that adjustment. "

  Antitypes / Greater fulfillments - Where does this concept come from? Is there a biblical basis for it?

  i've been discussing this recently with my dub family & would like some more information on the subject as i'm not all that well informed on it at present.

  i'm not a believer in the divinity of the bible, but i do respect those who feel that bible helps them in their lives.

  however, those who claim that certain ancient prophecies will have a greater / larger fulfillment in modern times puzzle me.

  If you can make up your own "antitypes" or "Greater fulfillments" , where does it all end? Better to stick to the ones that Scripture clearly states. -- I've just been reading about David Koresh and Waco, and he also did a lot of this. Of course it was he himself, who was the antitype, the ultimate fulfillment of this and that. wow.

  Thanks for posting this LeavingWT. Very interesting. As a counter to this, there is a dvd called "The Late Great Planet Church, the Rise of Dispensationalism". It shows what a current trend/fad this is in the overall history of the CHristian church. There are some interesting things in it that may be of interest for exJWs who study the history, back to Adventism, Miller, etc. (Warning: the dvd has a lot of talking heads, a little dry if you're not completely interested in the topic. LOL) I myself abandoned the dispensational views i was exposed to, after studying the Reformation, early church fathers, and .....Jehovahs WItnesses!

  do Jehovah witness teaches about grace and what it is?

  i would like to know does jhw teaches what grace is , and how to recieve grace without any works , merits and qualifications?.

  what is saved grace to jhw?.

  if we are saved in the name of jesus why do they have to do things like go witnessing , and etc to get god to accept them when grace has already made us righteous un jesus and not jehovah?.

  St Ann - That was such a great post! Grace = Unmerited Favor. We couldn't earn God's favor on our best day! Even our 'best' works are tained with mixed motives - self interest, etc.

  When JWs say God knows our hearts, and find that reassuring, i react just the opposite - i find it disconcerting, without grace! ;)

  I was interested in what Gary said (techincally his wife said) about 1914 not being a core doctrine. Does this mean you can voice an opinion, that you don't agree with it? I remember Mouthy writing about how she was disfellowshipped for not believing 1914. Has that changed?

  Is the view of "Generation" a core doctrine? Can you elaborate on the concept "core doctrine"? I thought in the WT system, you pretty much have to affirm everything in the current pubs. Are there really any 'minor' points people can argue/discuss about?

  Would it be a disfellowshipping offense to go around the KH saying you believe 'generation' still means the Annointed, or the wicked people? Or is it ok to believe that inside, as long as you don't promote that view?
