Welcome JWT, great to have you here and great to see someone else who's managed to hold onto their Christian faith while mentally leaving the WTS.
Psalm 27: 9 Do not conceal your face from me.
Do not in anger turn your servant away.
My assistance you must become.
Do not forsake me and do not leave me, O my God of salvation.10 In case my own father and my own mother did leave me,
Even Jehovah himself would take me up.These verse comforted me greatly while leaving the WTS. I lost my parents, my aunts and uncles, my cousins, friends I'd had for over 20 years and my young niece and nephew.
It isn't easy, but it's possible to cope with the pain of lost relationships.
Hebrews 13: 12 Hence Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13 Let us, then, go forth to him outside the camp, bearing the reproach he bore.
Jesus suffered immensely and sometimes we reach a point in our Christian life that we need to step outside the protection of the city, just as he had to, and endure the reproach he bore. It's painful, but it comes with blessings.
PM if you need any support.

Church Experiment 10 - JWs - great blog post by an outsider
by passwordprotected inchurch experiment #10: jehovah's witnesses.
the guy who authors this blog is visiting a different church every week for 52 weeks.
week 10 was the jw's turn.. he details many of the things we already know, plus he gives an outsider's viewpoint on the lack of jw internet presence, their hatred of catholics, their parroting of answers and their 'brainwashing' of children.. well worth a read..

argument against the faithfull and discreet slave class ?
by KAYTEE inas an ex jw, i found that the faithful and discreet slave class (fdsc) was paramount in the make up of that religion.. prior to disfellowshiping anyone, the elders would question your loyalty to the (fdsc), disprove the existence of this class and the whole credibility of that religion collapses, remember this hinges on just three verses in math.24 v45-48.
imagine a scenario; the elders are confronting you with this dilemma, what would your argument be, against the authenticity of this class.. i know there are many on this site that could answer this very well, i know of two ladies who could put a convincing answer.. to hear your comments could greatly help many who frequent this site, that find themselves on the fringes of that religion.. kt.

Another angle to consider is if the food the FDS was supplying in 1914 was so good, where is it now? And why was it in 1914 that the group who eventually became the FDS were actively preaching that Christ had in fact returned in 1874?
Add this to the mix; in 1914 the WTS were teaching that Russell was the faithful and discreet slave. They believed he's already been chosen. Obviously this was a falsehood on their part. Why would Christ choose a group who were preaching falsehoods?
This also needs to be considered;
Luke 12:35 “Let YOUR loins be girded and YOUR lamps be burning, 36 and YOU yourselves be like men waiting for their master when he returns from the marriage, so that at his arriving and knocking they may at once open to him. 37 Happy are those slaves whom the master on arriving finds watching! Truly I say to YOU , He will gird himself and make them recline at the table and will come alongside and minister to them. 38 And if he arrives in the second watch, even if in the third, and finds them thus, happy are they! 39 But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have kept watching and not have let his house be broken into. 40 Y OU also, keep ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think likely the Son of man is coming.”
41 Then Peter said: “Lord, are you saying this illustration to us or also to all?” 42 And the Lord said: “Who really is the faithful steward, the discreet one, whom his master will appoint over his body of attendants to keep giving them their measure of food supplies at the proper time? 43 Happy is that slave, if his master on arriving finds him doing so! 44 I tell YOU truthfully, He will appoint him over all his belongings.
Jesus made it clear that he would be looking for people who were girded and ready to open the door to him. How could the WTS have met that criteria if they believed he'd actually knocked on the door 40 years previously?
It is scripturally impossible to know when Jesus will return and identify the FDS.
To summarise;
- Jesus asked a rhetorical question "who really is the faithful and discreet slave"
- The answer would be provided at his return
- The context of Matthew 24 and Luke 12 show that the master's return would not be known ahead of time
Side point;
Many JWs, in my experience, confuse the FDS with the Holy Spirit. You'll hear them say things like, "Jesus promised a faithful and discreet slave to teach us things". In reality, Jesus promised a Helper, The Holy Spirit, who would lead Christians into truth.
