  MY LETTER of disassociation from JWD

  decades ago, when my brother was a teenager and i a young 20 something year old full of the truth, he got disfellowshipped for inappropriate behavior with his 17-year old girlfriend.

  he cried.

  That was a very touching post, thank you.

  Do you not think though that you are emotionally transferring something with huge implications, onto a much smaller issue that is hardly a valid comparison? For example, you are one click away from another discussion Board, but your Brother lived without the love of his family for many years. Explain to your neighbour about your brother and they will be angry also and sympathize. explain to them that you are leaving an XJW discussion board because its owners banned some posters and they are likely to pass you the Paxil.

  The other night, when I suggested that you were mistaking this discussion board with the United Nations, you took offence, noting that you did not take this discussion Board as seriously as I thought. Are you really sure about that? This is merely a place where XJW's hang out and get obssessed about most things, that is all.

  Though we seldom see eye to eye, because you are always wrong and I am always right you are a valuable contributor to this Board and it would be its loss to see you go. If you just wish to move on, well, good on you and the best of luck. But if you are upset at recent events, why not take a breather, smell the roses and come back when you feel a little more settled?

  trying to remember an old post, can you help?

  a while back i found a great post on the blood issue.

  someone took a lot of time to reason out why they felt in their concience that blood was ok. part of the reasoning was due to the examples that jesus provided, for example, no one other than the priests were to partake of the sacrafices at the temple, and yet he ate of them and fed them to his disciples because they were hungry.

  also, he pointed out healing on a sabbath and a man pulling out his bull from a pit on the sabbath and christ commenting that who would not pull him out immediately?

He certainly researched and wrote one of the most compelling articles I have read about the subject from anyone. Another option is to 'google' 'Jan Haugland Blood' and find the article online.

  I have never met a person who was not in some way or the other racially biased, and I include myself.

  Times are changing with regard to racism and slowly, like some cumbersome juggernaut, they are changing for the better. Regardless of the general lack of popularity of 'political correctness', I am a great believer in its ability, again slowly and often awkwardly, to change societies views in a positive direction.

  A major issue seems to be that some of the strongest racial bias is held by minority groups who have not integrated with much success into the mainstream thinking of their chosen nation. Education and time is the answer to this one.

  Why do most people not think?

  i have just had a long conversation with a dear friend, and we came to the same conclusion most people do not really think.. he is 75 and is fizzing with ideas, got a phd at 60. in fractals( no have little idea what they are).

  for instance it was and is blindingly obvious to me that the price of oil would drop, it has a little.

  the reasons are simple and i am prepared to discuuss that if you want.. i have observed in relationships recently, my own included, that we ignore the what is happening, and often to our, and our familie's long term benefit.

  An interesting thread.

  1 .When we think things through we feel we will be diconcerted by the reality.

  A complex question, but humans do not like change and this even at a primal level. Often facing issues and dealing with them neccesitates an unwanted change in ones emotional or social life.

  2 It is so easy not to do any thinking, we feel comfortable with the actuality.

  Well people need time to think, and the pace of modern life is not always condusive to this. Often it takes a life-changing event, an illness, a bereavement, or in your case reevaluating the basis of your life due to emerging from a cult, to shake us from the mesmer of the nine-to-five.

  On a more philosophical level, I have found to be frank, that often the happiest people are those whose lives are free of the tangle of deep 'thinking'.

  As an aside, I would be interested to hear your views on why the price of oil will fall to any great degree, why not start another thread?

  let's get back on topic. This thread was started in response to BO's comments in the aforementioned article, it was not meant to be a referendum on Colin Powell's or Condi Rice's qualifications. If you want to discuss that, then start another thread.

  You have no right to tell people how to post, when to post, and what to post.

  xofNine....I know you won't do it, or you'll search for the negative about Condi, but, go online and look up her credentials, experience, temperament, education, and expertise

  No one could deny that Condeleeza Rice is a very intelligent, gifted and creative person, but that is not what Six meant and I suspect that you know that. However, most people could quite easily deny that as Secretary of State she has been uninspiring, inadequate and a non-performer.

  As Six suggested, perhaps you might list her achievements as Secretary Of State, that should take care of the issue one way or the other.

  not ideal weather for it, i have to say.

  it may be midsummer's day, but standing bollock naked, up to my ankles in sea water in the driving rain it certainly didn't feel like it!

  i was 38 years in left 7 years i find myself still in the mindset sometimes maybe becouse wife and some family are still in but can you ever fully ''check out and leave"

  Perhaps it is harder for those who were raised as JW's as their most formative years were submerged in cultic thinking.

  I was not 'born in' and actually found that I lost the mindset, ever after a couple of decades or so as a JW, almost overnight. It was actually a surprise to me just how quickly this happened. I also left Bible belief behind within months of my exit, which was one of the most liberating moments of my life.
