I'm shopping for a new bed...
by DanTheMan ini've never liked my twin-sized innerspring mattress that i've used for the past 10 years, so i've decided to upgrade.. i went to a local bed dealer today and found that i liked the foam mattresses the best.
the set i tried wasn't the memory-foam material that is all the rage right now, it was more like a conventional mattress with a polyurethane foam core instead of springs.
they also had latex foam beds, but these were quite expensive, although it is my understanding that latex foam mattresses last 20-30 years.. does anybody have experience with mattresses that uses either of these two types of foam for the core?.

Dan-----I have a latex version... and it was a close-out when I bought it a couple of years ago.
I like this one alot. I need a firm matress (discs and arthiritis troubles) I hear the newer improved versions are even better.

I have a foam mattress and it's about the same as the old inner spring I had for summer comfort.
Be forwarned..... it seems to weigh about 3 X as much as an innerspring unit...... I need help to move the bed around the room.
Now... I just need someone to use up the other space......... It's a Queen size.

Bad news about the house. : /
by Elsewhere ini have been holding off making a public announcement for awhile because i have been waiting for all of the paperwork to become official... but the company that is building my house has been dragging their feet, trying to delay the inevitable.. the bottom line is this: i won't be able to buy the house.
when i was doing contract work, i was making x amount of money.
i had anticipated a pay cut caused by my becoming a permanent employee, but the pay cut turned out to be more substancial than i had anticipated.

33% isnt a bad ratio......... and If you calculate your tax savings (assuming your at 20-28% tax bracket) you would actually save money long term. Income should rise too ( a valid assumtion) and the house should increase in value..... I've been there, Else..... the noodle diet will do you some good for a year or so.........The first house I bought 20 years ago has been the keystone to all other financial dealings I have had since.
If you are buying any house at all... you should be able to write your taxable income down by at least $5000.00 a year for several years...... all while building equity. If you do it right in 5 years you should be able to finance your own car deals (or improvments) against equity and write that interest off to. This is a "risk" and a stretch that is worth the gamble.
Find a house you can afford, even if it's not your "A" choice and buy it. Equity always trumps rent receipts. When you figure all the "not so evident" angles you can't afford NOT to buy a home.

Exodus 23:14-17 You CAN celebrate Thanksgiving. !!
by hubert init's right here, in the nwt bible.... .
exodus 23:14...."three times in the year, you are to celebrate a festival to me".. exodus 23:16...."also, the festival of harvest of the first ripe fruits of your labors, of what you sow in the field.
and the festival of ingathering at the outgoing of the year", when you gather in your labors from the field".. so, on the third thursday of november, we celebrate the "feast of the ingathering" by dedicating this day to giving thanks to god for the food and all the blessings we have enjoyed throughout the year.. it's right there in their bible, so why won't they celebrate it?

"You'll still be handled as a disfellowshipped person."
by Fleur inthat was the response that i got from a relative when i asked if they would shun me if i came to my grandmother's memorial service.. the same relative thinks that i should go, despite that because it's a public event but that if i did i should realize that i'd still be handled as a df'd person.
meaning, they would all shun me.. i have for days been trying to help this relative arrange my grandmother's burial with another relative who has refused to sign necessary papers.
i even offered to pay for said burial out of my own pocket if money were an issue.

Did anyone say anything unusual at the doors?
by badboy in.
i believe william schnell was once told that the only way to get light from a wt was to set fire to it!.
did anyone say anything of an usual matter to you while you were on the doors?.
-
hillbilly
I dont recall 'saying' any thing unusual at any door..... but I did get a few 'reactions' in certain neigborhoods.
I guess I look like a cop... I am a stocky guy...... I have knocked on a few doors and had folks bail out side windows to get outta Dodge. It was like , knock knock knock "US MARSHALLS", lol.
Big guy, short haircut, cheap blue suit..... go figure. Maybe it was the RayBans?
