Sure, they can vote. They can accept blood. They can even fornicate.
The end result is the same, if the elders find out about it.

even if you consider yourself a moral person, would you say that you are as honest, faithful, or any different than you were as a jw?.
Mine are now far superior. I no longer think it's OK for God to kill billions of Asians at Armageddon.
on monday i'm going to register to vote since i'm able to do so when i renew my drivers license.
i'm actually kind of excited since i never did register because of they way i was brought up.. how many of you are registered to vote?.
Remember: For Jehovah's Witnesses, deciding whether or not to vote is a personal decision*. Just like blood transfusions.
* Yes, you will be excommunicated if you do it and the elders find out about it. But, like fornication, it's a personal decision.
so the oldest man in the world, a japanese, has just celebrated his 115 birthday.. i was reading the other day that life expectancy in my country is around 78.2 today,.
that half the people born since 2000 are expected to see 100 years old, and that.
the first person that will live to 150 years old, is already alive.. so how long would you like to live?.
I've already given it one helluva run, and I've outlived most of my ancestors. If I dropped dead today, I would still consider myself very lucky.

Yes, I enjoy voting.

i no longer wish to recognised as one of the jehovah's witnesses due to the fact that i no longer believe that this 'organisation' is truly representing him because :.
i have experienced greater and unconditional love/friendship with the people i am supposed to hate 'worldly people' than i did in this congregation.
"I was only refering to the part about how no one will read it."
I really did believe that someone might read my letter. I naively felt that I was making a compelling case. This was because I hadn't yet read and understood what Steve Hassan was trying to tell me in his book. I was not dealing with normal people. I was dealing with victims of Thought Reform. To actually place my thoughts into a letter was to work exactly in the opposite direction of my goal -- resucing my family. To rescue my family, I should have never, ever publicly challenged the position of the WT leadership and doctrines. Had it not been for my never-baptized older brother, my parents would still be JWs. He was the only person who could have direct interactions with my parents. He and I would have strategy sessions about how to reach them. He would have to vehemently deny having any contact with me. (Read: He had to continually lie to them about me.) I could not have any interactions with the, because I was an apostate, an agent of Satan.
If there is even a single person you would like to rescue from the WT, writing a letter is a very bad idea, IMHO.

Diest: To be clear, writing a letter can often be exactly the right thing. However, here is what many of us know from experience. Many people are ignorant of the chain of events that will be set off, by writing a letter. I was ignorant of this.
Do you believe that people should make serious decisions from a position of ignorance? Or, do you believe that having as much information as possible would be better?

People who write letter are apostates.
Being an apostate is completely different than no longer being a JW.
You should know this before you send a letter.
If you're trying to achieve anything other than becoming an apostate, a letter is ill-advised, IMHO.
(Disclosure: I wrote a letter. Nobody read it, not even my own brother.)
how do you explain david's graphic portrayal of jesus' death by crucifixion (psalm 22) 1000 years before christ lived?.
how do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) old testament prophecies were fulfilled in jesus christ?.
in what sense was jesus a "good man" if he was lying in his claim to be god?.
"Man is that an Elder look or what leavingwt? He looks like he was just notified that apostates are picketing the Kingdom Hall during the Memorial."
Good question.
