I've got some great news for you: It's not The Truth. Better yet, Armageddon is never coming. Even better, in just three easy steps, you too can become an apostate.
Welcome!
so i recently returned to the truth.
i was raised by an elder and jw family.
25 years later i am a new unbaptized publisher.. i have a problem i hope you all can give advice.

in a separate thread, there's been intense discussion about how the gb is still seeking to tighten its grip on the rank and file.
the latest evidence is the january 2013 watchtower which rolls out hugely predictable statements about not doing anything to upset one's (jw) family by, for example, being in email contact with a disfellowshipped witness.
it's hard to stifle the yawns.
Some JWs practice strict shunning. Others do not.
in another thread about things the watchtower got right two posters have expressd agreement with the fact that the wt refuses to take part in war.. i don't want to derail that thrread so what's your thoughts on pacifism?.
personally i think there are times that killing your enemies is regrettably the lesser of two evils.. .
edited to add - this link may help in defining various shades of pacifism.
Innocent people will die if the sheepdogs don't kill the wolves. History teaches us this unpleasant reality: there is unfortunately a seemingly infinite number of wolves that must be slaughtered, to protect the innocent.
The sheep will never understand or appreciate this.

JWs detest the idea of going to Heaven.
Of this, I am certain.
They want that pet lion, they need that pet lion.
so i've been studying with jws since april 2011.
1 year later i decide to become an unbaptized publisher and take steps toward dedicating myself to jehovah.
i'm a single working mother of 2 with what i will call a very "colored" past.
Getting baptized by the JWs is a terrible idea. It ruined many of our lives. You don't have to make the same mistake. Find a church with better food and music.
Welcome.
i see it posted that many are 'waking up' etc.
but the religion is still growing!
many enjoy the kool-aid.
It will be going strong long after we're all dead.
Seven million strong and growing.
Jehovah's blessing is obvious.
so, i've had a chance to ponder this "new light" of the change of definition of fds now for a couple of days.
the initial reaction was of astonishment, and just plain anger, and i can see that i'm not alone in that.
however (assuming matt 24:45-47 is prophetic, parable or not):.
My point is that we don't have to worry about whether the teaching is right or wrong.
If you're a member of this church, why wouldn't you be obligated to worry about what they teach? I do not understand. Do you think that elders should worry about it? How about ministerial servants and pionners?
Do you financially support this church? Do you actively try to convert strangers?
(I'm not encouraging you to leave your church, I want to better understand your point of view.)
When I still believed in God, I could not reconcile standing before God, and blaming a group of people (the GB) that I didn't even know. It seemed that this would sound like a very lame excuse to God, especially having proven to myself that WT is a house of lies.
all of these threads about the 'new light' regarding the fds has got me wondering.
as ex-jws, we've trained ourselves to notice such things.
we tend to treat them as if they're of great significance, even convey a certain level of optimism that it will actually wake some up, make some think, even lead to some sort of mass revolution within the ranks.. do rank-and-file jws really see any significance, or is it just wishful thinking?
Why in the world would you need to print a magazine every single month for more than 100 years, unless you were going to change things? The entire model is dependent upon change. What possibly more could they publish, if nothing were to change? The writers are in love with the sound of their own voices.

Think about Lifton's research and Hassan's application.
Doctrine is of no concern. They can change it every week. Hell, they need some excitement. When something changes, it's "proof" that Jehovah is providing spiritual food to the people writing the WT magazine articles.
The only thing of concern is what is covered in the upcoming Watchtower lesson.
“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.” -- George Orwell
she is a beautiful young woman, inside and out.
