I have an aunt who is one year younger than me, she's my mom's youngest sister.. We have always been very close and were more like sisters. We were both baptised as a JW and were always together. Around 2002, she became inactive Then she got baptised as a Mormon in 2004! Me being the good little witness I was told her that I couldn't associate with her any more because of that. It was such a difficult and hard thing to do but I thought I was doing the right thing.
Fastforward to 2008- I now see that my belief system is not as I was taught. I decided to call her this weekend and make amends. It was wonderful- we both cried, laughed and are going to meet up with our families. I missed her so much. The thing is though, my mother is completely involved in the KH. She would be devastated to know I am in touch with her again just because of the Mormon thing. My mom has a big family and I'm not quite sure how to handle this. Any thoughts?

*** Your thoughts on Apostate Literature ***
by FlyingHighNow inwhen they'd warn us at every circuit assembly not to read apostate literature, remember how they'd tell us if we received it in the mail, to throw it away immediately?
what thoughts went through your mind?.
mine were: "i don't think i can throw it away.

I was terrified of any 'apostate' literature. I thought it would have demons in it. And up until very recently-like 2 months ago, never even considered looking at it even though I have been inactive for some time.

Me and the hubby were talking about back in the day when we had to give public talks. I'm a natural chatterbox and not very shy. My hubby is just the opposite. He said giving talks used to terrify him and his parents really pushed him to join the school. How about you- any memories or thoughts about when you gave a talk?

When I was 22 I got reinstated on a thursday night. The Circuit Assembly was that Saturday and I was nervous to go but glad that I was no longer DF'd. There was one elder at our hall who was quite rude. He seen me that Saturday morning and approached me. I thought he was going to say something nice or encouraging like 'glad youre'back or let me know if you need any help.' What the Hell was I thinking? Instead he came up to me and said, 'yeah, I heard you were reinstated, let's hope you keep it that way.' and walked away. I was stunned. My mom was furious and called him later on and confronted him. He said I misunderstood him.

I feel bad that you are allowing her to become so emotionally involved with someone she's only communicated with on the phone or internet. I agree with Robdar, they sound more like penpals.

My 28y old nephew was dating a 'sister' from another congregation. He recently bought his own home. I stopped by there to drop off something. The sister was over there and I obviously interrupted something. Both of them were visibly nervous and she was adjusting her clothes as I walked into the living room. He knew I was coming by. But the funniest part of the story is that when we were all at a family dinner a few days later and the two of them were going to the store to buy some soda, my MIL made someone go with them as a Chaperone. Anyone else have any funny or strange stories like that?

Visit from Pioneers
by QuestioningEverything inso, my husband and i are 'faders/inactive' and have been for some time.
we live in another city about 60 miles from both sides our family.
his parents and my mom are very active in the congregation in their area (they live in the same city).

My MIL intentions were good ones. However, we are not really interested in returning. I would never be disrespectful to her nor would my hubby, she is a wonderful person just a little overly zealous for her cause. Yet, I don't want to rock the boat because everyone in the family will know and at this time we are quietly living our lives 60+ miles away from them. Plus, I'm concerned that the pioneers may take our lack of interest and run with it right to the elders.

Yes, good ole MIL set it up and boy is the hubby mad. She's very zealous in her beliefs!! She would be the kind to call the pioneers and see if they were able to contact us.

by weeone ini am a sister that kind of "fell away" from the organization.
i felt that i wasn't accepted by my brothers and sisters (long, long story).

I wouldn't tell the elders anything. You don't want to be disfellowshipped. But truthfully, it sounds to me like you' are considering going to them out of spite.
