Yes, my husband did. He tried to kindly reason with me. He tried to go hard-core with the reasons it was wrong-by starting arguments with me about it. Finally, he just started to plant some seeds of doubt here and there. I resisted all of those attempts. Several years later, I did some research on my own and Damn-what a shocker I got!
Thank goodness I discovered the realities of the WTBS (WatchTowerBullShit). I am grateful my husband was patient with me(mostly) and the blinders I had on.
i was reading some of danny haszards web site last night.
i haven't been able to find out what happened to the parents of laree slack.
her parents larry and constance slack, jw's, beat their 12 yr old daughter with a 5 foot 1 inch thick electric cable.
The parents were both sentenced to prison. Good!!!
i saw 6 jw zombies walking up a hill near where i live the other day.
they all were dressed nicely.
they walked together in twos.
HELL NO!!!!!
a couple of years ago we got into this huge family argument because i didn't believe jehovah was going to destroy 99.9% of the population at armageddon.
elders were involved and i almost got d'ffed.
i didn't talk to her or my parents for 4 months.
Sounds like something did 'click' in your sister's head. I hope you are able to lead her out of the organization. good job!!
i was raised a witness, never baptised.
in my teens i told my family, i believe in god and the bible.
but i don't believe in armageddon or that jws are the only ones that would survive it.
It's just difficult to share something with our families that we know will upset them. I know I will NEVER return to a religion of any sort. I am agnostic/atheist(not sure) and I don't believe the bible is from God. It would devastate my mom if she knew this is how I feel.
Personally, I choose not to share these feelings with my mom. It's difficult sometimes because she is very zealous. Not sure what to say to you but just wanted you to know that there are others out there with similar issues.
a woman who is studying/attending the kh where my mom goes has 8 kids.
the oldest is 15y and the baby is only 7 weeks old.
after studying for some time, she decided it would be morally right for her and the kids father to get married.
My mom is friends with the sister who studies with her. That sister, from what mom says, is all for this decision. She's probably some lonely, bitter , envious pioneer. It makes me sick to my stomach to think of what this woman is doing to her family. Hell, they've been together, unmarried for over 15 years, he couldn't be too terrible of a man. This woman has no idea that she will be by herself as long as she is a witness. Her kids are going to grow up and rebel, their dad will not be home to help out.

A woman who is studying/attending the KH where my mom goes has 8 kids. The oldest is 15y and the baby is only 7 weeks old. After studying for some time, she decided it would be morally right for her and the kids father to get married. He agreed and bought her a ring. They set a date. This guy isn't studying with the witnesses but based on what my mom has told me he sounds like a decent guy. Yes, all of the kids are his. He doesn't oppose her studying, helps out with the kids getting to the meetings as much as he can and thinks the studies are a positive thing for his family.
Well, she gave the ring back and made him move out of their home. Why you may ask? Because it would be just too much trouble in the future if she got baptised and he continued to be 'worldly'. She didn't want to risk her 'spiritual' well being by taking that chance. All in the KH are applauding her for this wise decision. She's sacrificing for the truth!
I don't know about any of you but this story really pissed me off. This woman has 8 kids. Who is going to take care of them financially? Even if she gets child support, it doesn't make up for the in house assistance she was getting from the dad. Why would the congregation encourage this woman to remain single? What a bunch of idiots!
I feel so sorry for the kids and the dad.
not to "hijack" dogpatch's recent thread, but the experience he relayed in the above topic struck a nerve and i was curious for more input.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/188715/1/my-aunts-funeral-at-the-kingdom-hall.
if there is ever a time when a shred of human dignity and compassion is deserved, it is at a funeral.. i am appalled by the way disfellowshipped individuals are treated, but especially at witness funerals.. the flesh and blood relatives have the right to be there if they choose.
if you are a witness and you are offended by a disfellowshipped person attending, dont let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out.
Stories like the one above upset me. It is HORRIBLE to not console someone who is dealing with the death of a loved one. How hateful of those elders to make that young man leave!!
i am a support worker for adults with profound disabilities and some with autism and i love caring for people ..
