i have 3 sons--19, 18 and 14. the oldest two just finished up their first year in college-not community college(nothing wrong with that) they are at a state university.
one made the dean's list both semesters.

I have 3 sons--19, 18 and 14. The oldest two just finished up their first year in college-not community college(nothing wrong with that) they are at a state university. One made the Dean's list both semesters. My youngest is in the National Jr. Honor Society. They haven't been to jail, gotten anyone pregnant and are polite, respectful young men.
Raising them outside of the restraints of the JW religion was one of the best choices I made as a parent.

Holidays
by Flat_Accent innow it's been a good 8 months since i told my parents i no longer considered myself a jw.
things have settled down to an extent but the hurt is still there - they think i'm going to die and as such are overly concerned for my safety.. in november i met a gal online and we've kept contact.
a few months ago we decided i would come to visit her for a week.

in conversation, it came up that a known pedophile was seen walking to the bathroom holding a young boy's hand-no relation to the boy at all, although that wouldn't make a difference!

My MIL wasn't the only person who saw it. She did think the elders would step in and 'handle it'. They didn't. I am sick to my stomach about it and am trying to find a way to get this reported. The sick pervert was NEVER prosecuted. It was very bold of him to do this and it tells me he felt very safe and comfortable.

My MIL's circuit assembly was this past weekend. She came over for dinner to our home after the assembly. In conversation, it came up that a known pedophile was seen walking to the bathroom holding a young boy's hand-no relation to the boy at all, although that wouldn't make a difference! The boy was maybe 3-5 yrs old and he was apparently the son of a study who rode to the assembly with the family.
My MIL said she just "prayed to jehovah to be able to pay attention to the brother's talk and not worry about seeing him walk with that little boy." I couldn't believe that no one thought to follow him into the bathroom or get a brother to do it and make sure the young one was okay. My MIL is a die-hard and almost 80 years old.
Is there anything more we can/should do to make sure this sick pervert doesn't have access to children? This guy was DF'd for several years when a few of his victims came forward. He denied it-they all told the same story.

by hamsterbait insaw it today.. realised soon it was about an ancient death cult, who had updated its technology.. but the idea of watchers - guiding and manipulating depending on the culture_.
philosophically, i thought this was a major criticism of the religious myths of the west, where the true nature of reality is like the back stage of a theater, with god and satan watching us all and pushing buttons as required.. i always hated the proverb about god "wrecking the work of your hands" simply because you didnt tell him he is wonderful.. the gory end was so ott that i was laughing.. what did you think of this chiller thriller??.

After I learned the truth about the JW"s, I called my aunt and apologized for shunning her. She had been a JW and joined the Mormon's. Me, being the good JW i was, shunned her when she told me of her decision to join the Mormon's.
I hadn't spoken to her for at least 4 or 5 years when I made the call. I really missed her and am glad that we were able to mend the relationship.

And my mom is now aware that me and my aunt are talking and back to our previous relationship. Mom is fine with it. :)

before i express my opinion to the readers and contributors to this website (www.ex-jw.com), i would like to explain who i am and to present my bona fides as someone qualified to comment on this website and jehovah's witnesses in general.. first of all, i am an active jehovah's witness living just outside of new york city.
being a large metropolis, new york has many kingdom halls located within the city and several more in surrounding boroughs, counties, and suburbs.
