If I were home today, I would get some extra housecleaning done. And make a big dinner for my family.

i wonder what an apostate can accomplish on a day at home?

Is this generation just setting themselves up for disappointment with Obama!
by free2beme ini have heard people call obama their "lord and savior" and act like having him in office is going to solve everything for the world.
i honest believe, a lot of people have extremely high hopes for this man.
some deserved, as he promised and others imposed as they are desperate.

He's already making positive changes and has only been president for one week.

Cracks in the Veneer
by mrsjones5 inlast night i was talking to a dear cousin of mine (if i had to classify her i would say she a liberal jw who firmly believes) and she said "they told me that i wouldn't graduate high school and now i'm almost 50".
after she said that i waited for her to follow that line of thought to some conclusion of perhaps "maybe they're wrong" but it didn't happen.
i don't have any desire to start working on her to leave the borg (though i would love it if she and other members of the family would wake up) but i do find it interresting to listen to and watch the cracks in the veneer.. josie.

QuestioningEverything
My mom , a diehard witness, made the statement to me that she doesn't understand why Jehovah allows stuff to go on so long in the congregation before he brings it to light. What she was referring to was a guy who was DF'd for molesting some younger ones in the hall. She was really distressed over it but said "I guess Jah brings it to light when he feels is the right time." But I do see a crack in her spiritual armor with this. First time ever.
I can't hardly talk to her about anything KH related anymore. I used to be able to fake it, go along with the conversation, say some neutral comments. But now, the anger just rises up and I want to scream!!

How Many Sit on the Fence?
by sammielee24 ini was checking out another topic and pulled off something that wobble said.. given that - how many of you would go back if the wts decided to enact shunning for everybody who was not active?
if tomorrow they decided that da'ing or fading or in simple terms, being inactive for any reason whatsoever, was a shunning offense - how many would start going back immediately just so their family wouldn't be cut off?
how many would not go back and would instead would be willing to stand firm on their belief that the wts is wrong in what they teach?

I could not go back even if they did that. I can't imagine myself ever going to the KH again unless it's for a funeral or wedding.

QuestioningEverything
My weekends are wonderful. Saturday morning, my son's plays basketball, so we as a family attend that. Then I usually grocery shop on saturday afternoon and clean up my house real good. Sundays-now guilt free-are spent relaxing with the family. And cooking a good dinner to help us start out our week on the right foot!!

Name Things Witnesses Do or Believe That Is Not "Scriptural"
by minimus injehovah's witnesses pride themselves in believing that they alone are picked by god, jehovah god, specifically.
they say they are not part of the world and are unlike the false religions that are mired in their traditions.
i say they are liars!

The fact that they shun/DF those who disagree or question their doctrines. It is not loving or christ like to shun your loved ones.

Showing Kindness to Strangers.
by LouBelle inyou know sometimes in life one get's the urge to do something nice and unexpected for a stranger.. i just received a prayer request from a christian friend of mine.
her collegues daughter was recently in a car accident and has been paralysed from the waist down.
this has caused quite a strain in the family dynamic and many seem to say this pain is the daughters' fault (which to me is sick - she didn't go and do it purposefully) anyway so my friend asked that we pray for the collegue and the collegues daughter.. which is great an' all.....but i spurred on by something thought it would be great to show kindness as asked those on the list to donate a small amount so that we could go and buy a huge ass bunch of flowers and send them to her - bring something beautiful and bright into her life.

I agree wholeheartedly-do unto others, karma, whatever you call it. We all need to remember to be kind. It's hard when people are so mean and selfish but I believe that taking the high road is always the best choice.

My sister called! I've written her a letter...
by Confession ini was working in corpus christi this past weekend, when my sister called out of the blue on sunday.
she, like the rest of my family, is a very zealous jw, and since i am recognized as an apostate, i haven't seen nor spoken to her in about four years.
i was completely shocked that she called.

That's a great letter!!!! Very moving and this statement really stood out to me:
"They had been living in sort of a virtual reality." --- It is sooooo true.
I hope this letter reaches her heart and she opens her mind and eyes.

Did You ACTUALLY Believe That Jehovah Was Going To Answer Your Prayers?
by minimus ini know many people, witnesses and nonjws that truly believe that if they prayed to god, he would hear their entreaty and perform some miracle and grant their wishes.. did you believe in the power of prayer?.
-
QuestioningEverything
I used to believe he was. Now, I feel as prayer is just wishful thinking and something used to comfort oneself. Why would my prayer requests be more important than someone else?
