admittedly i'm an outsider but i do not get why witnesses feel so darn compelled to "tattle" on each other?.
i do remember my friend telling me (as justification for the shunning) that when a witness is baptised, they understand that they are accepted into a special society that requires a commitment to the "rules.
" she went on to say that those that don't follow the rules are well aware of the consequences.
It?s the ?if I have to, so do you? mentality. JW life is constant peer pressure and if someone is slacking and not keeping up the appearance of being a good JW than you will be turned in to the elders. Most Dubs want to shed that feeling of a rancid set of eyes constantly on their back. It?s nearly impossible to do that without raising a flag somewhere and bringing down the wrath of a weak-minded sniveler that hates their life as a JW. They will sing like a prison bird for a hint at self-gratification because of your demise. Hence the circle of excrement continues.

While an elder at first I thought, "wow what a serious position this is" then after a few years it started to become monotonous. I felt like a baby sitter, or should I say daycare worker with a boss (WT) that had a bad disposition. The last couple of years (of 10) the infighting among some elders opened my eyes to the possibility the organization was corrupt. When they were done with destroying one or more other elders (some deservedly so) they would turn to another target. I was on my way out on the orginazation when they turned their sights on me. Two fellow elders wanted to speak with me in the back room. I was happy for this for I resigned that day, went only to two more meetings and then never went back. The PO at the time couldn't have chaired a kindergarten meeting properly and was an uneducated part time pizza delivery man. The current PO is a dim witted factory worker, not that there is anything wrong with factory workers, I only state the fact because the adherents will look to these individuals for answers to serious problems in life
The WT wants absolute control over all members' lives, so the impression the elders portray is very important and well orchestrated. Their individual personality's will vary and can either increase or diminish the influance of control or likeablity.

my mother just told me that my brother was told by his elders that because he attended my daughter's wedding, he was not going to be allowed any privileges, including "handling the microphones".
my elder friend that also went to the wedding told me he was being deleted too.

I feel left out, nobody came after me! A former elder (barf) with my girlfriend attended the wedding and spent the night in the hotel. We had monkey sex all night with much noise.

my daughter is getting married next month, she has no idea of the extent of my husbands and my fading as she lives in another area.. the thing is she really loves this guy and will marry him come what may, but my husband thinks she should know about us before she gets married.
im worried her bf might say we cant go to the wedding or stop her seeing us after.. ive got a idea hes a bit of a hard liner, controlling!

I'd tell her before the wedding. If she is as determined and in love as you say you will not harm her relationship. The outcome will be determined sooner or later anyway as to your fade and eventual shunning by "hardline JW's" predictible treatment of you.
