  Time for JW's to make a name change, one of Rutherford few that are left

  considering the majority, if not all of rutherford's teachings are all but dead, the only two i can think of that are still strongly supported are........... 1) heavens doors closed in 1935 (which is probaly on it's way out the door as well).

  2) changing the name from international bible students to jehovah's witnesses.. so to completely eliminate rutherford what would the jehovah's witnesses change their name to next ?????????.

  this should be humourous !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  in fact, many of the bad experiences people have with jws are caused by actions that the society does not encourage.. .

  logan i have started a new thread simply because if a jw read your old one they may be happy enough not go back to reread this if it was posted there.. one of the things that kept me holding on to the jw faith was the thought that many of the bad experiences people have with jws are caused by actions the soceity does not encourage.

  Most JW's will never have to deal directly with the "Society" ever. Not even most elders will ever venture into the realm of direct contact with the service dept. in Patterson, NY the closest contact for local elders will be the "CO" the traveling representative as they are known. It's the elite of the local body that will occasionally make a call or know someone there. The service dept. will not even give out their names only a desk number on any correspondence verbal or written

  When one finally is shown, first hand, how cold they really can be it's an eye opener. It made me feel like I was defending a big bad ass gangster and trying to make him look sweet. I couldn't do it for long once I realized what position I had been put into.

  The average JW will defend the unknown only from what they are told through their very tight controlled information put out by the very organization it defends. (does circular reasoning come to mind?) I'm so glad I'm out of that loop.

  If you saw a serious car accident, would you...

  if you saw a serious car accident, and people were trapped in the car, or unconscious in the wreck, would you try to get them out even if the car was on fire and could explode at any moment?.

  coming back from quebec city today, i saw a car or truck in the ditch upside down and with lots of smoke coming out of the wreckage.

  4 or 5 cars were stopped near by to look at the accident.

  Yes I would and have.

  I was a passenger in a dubbies (ms) car when I was a new dubbie returning from a day of skiing when we came upon a bright flash of light that light up the night sky. It was a country road with no one around and cold out when around the next corner a car had just hit a utility pole. The wires were down and sparks were coming from under the vehicle. I told my dubbie friend (ms) to stop the car and his reply was "NO let's keep going" . I opened our car door while it was still moving slowly and jumped out and ran over to the damaged vehicle, the motor was racing full throttle with the only occupant slumped over the steering wheel. I forced open the door and shut off the ignition then revived the driver by yelling and shaking him, he was covered in blood and his ear was torn off. After a short time the police arrived and I went back to my ride where the Ministerial Servant was still sitting, he never got out, I said lets go he'll be ok. He never said a word about it after that. He was a real good dubbie example.

  when replying to a thread started by black man i said something like ........ " after armageddon is over we will all be dead, but satan will still be kicking, and then let loose again after christ's 1000 year reign, so satan already has his get out of armageddon card, he's already thru.

  New light question

  i was discussing with my motherinlaw last weekend the change in the 1995 "generation" doctrine,and got the usual response that it was a new light.

  what started out as a little bit of fun during a long car journey actually turning into something quite sad and disturbing.

  i argued that old light was obviously wrong (by their own definition), and therefore, by her reasoning she has been preaching lies.

  Universal laws (truths) of science are proven over and over again through controlled experiments. These laws become common knowledge and all things in life are governed by them and "New Light" does occasionally come in the form of another discovery. The former, even simple, laws do not go away or change ex: gravity, magnetism, water freezing / boiling and many others. Does anyone dispute these? Why even the WT would agree with them. I can't understand the difference, if all comes from god why are the spiritual laws all in dispute and changing while the physical laws are so definite and build from a solid foundation when new discoveries come along? Because these physical laws are constant and will always be. Unless some higher being decides as a joke to put us all on our asses some day by changing things we've known and believed (because they are true) all our lives and calls it new light we can expect a constant, true scientific law.

  The WT and other religions will change interpretation and say god made them do it. If god made all the physical laws and does not change them why does he see fit to change the spiritual laws? I guess my answer is I just don't believe any religions interpretations of anything.

  How far does the shunning go for you, by your JW parents or children?

  my dad is a jw, trying to reach out to be an elder again......also pioneering.

  i saw my cousin , his nephew , the other nite at the dance club......i told him i havent seen my dad, nor heard from him in almost 2 years.

  he said he saw him a while back but that he heard he moved.. last time i talked to my dad, it was over me not going to the circuit assembly he was trying to get me to go to.

  My point is , my dad left no word for me, he left no number, didnt call to at least tell me goodbye , if one of us should die,,,,,, so be it, kiss off , nothing. If something terrible was to happen to him , to me, my sister or his grandchildren, he doesnt want to know, and he doesnt want me to know about him.

  Sorry to hear this. The coldness of some because of the WT is astounding. Family ties should be strong, it really takes a CULT controlled mind and a CULT cold heart to act like this.

  Alone in a house full of people

  for those of you still married to a jw...have you ever felt like you were living alone even tho there is a person on the other side of the bed?

  i sure do...he has this whole "secret life" and all his jw friends and jw relatives and wont have anything to do with my friends or my relatives, even tho most of them never were jws....so we dont do anything together as a couple.

  From experience, though not all are the same, I was very similar to you husband in action. I hated going to meetings but thought it was still the truth, that’s where the double life comes in. He may resent the bad light, he perceives, you put him in within his congregation. I was an elder at the time and when your wife leaves the witness’s only one can survive: loyalty to the witness organization or the marriage, both together in the long run are nearly impossible. Both were lost in my case and I don’t miss either now, however it was not always that easy.
  
  
  If you want to save the marriage tell him you need time with him and do not accept no for an answer. Use any subtle persuasive means you can to keep him away from the meetings (yes you will be playing Satan) he has to stop hearing the mind control reinforcement to see the lies there.

  What Results When JW's Associate ONLY With Fellow JW's?

  i clearly see that jw's are constantly being told to only associate with fellow believers if at all humanly possible.

  there is to be either no association or at the minimum, very little socializing with non-witnesses.

  in your opinion, what does this produce?
