Captive of a Concept... ordered it today
by cawshun inhas anyone that read this book passed it on to a jw friend or relative?
if so, how did they respond to your sharing it?.
i thought about passing it on to my daughter and son-in-law after i read it, do you think that is a good idea?

It is a good book but if I remember there were some misspellings in the copy I read about three years ago. Maybe, they have fixed that. Things like that make me crazy. It is easy to follow and understand so that is great and it isn't a giant book like Ray's Christian Freedom. I hope you enjoy it. Cawshun, try dropping some small stories from Ray's COC. You know like, the Mexican dubs paying bribes to the military so they don't have to join, with the wt approval or something you found interesting in his book. That put doubts in my mind, dropped from my ex. That can help weaken the belief it is the trooth.

Help DF'd person in difficulty

can anyone recall the question from readers saying it was ok to help a df person in difficulty?.
least i think it was a qfr - it cited examples like helping someone change a tyre at the roadside, or giving a single df lady a lift home from the meeting in the evening, or somesuch..... any takers?.

I can remember an elder asking my ex and I to pick up an df'd woman and her handicapped child and take her to meeting. We did this for quite awhile. She would always try to make conversation with us and I felt weird about it (cause you aren't supposed to talk with them, right?) She came back in but has since died. I am sure that was in the early 90's.

but you have a person (s) in your life, through work, church, or some other limited environment with whom you have complete control of their "diet" of information when it comes to you.
to put it another way, they only know you from what you 'feed' them.

I have distanced myself from others and their problems lately. However, they want to continue to drag up old business even having others join in their fest of hating me. Most of you don't know me so don't go there. Remember, there are two sides to every story. His is from his side of the table and may not be the real thing and mine is from my point of view. It is hard to think how the loyalties to those not here on this board, run so deep. I will not be a lab rat for him or her or their friends here. I am not going away.

who go ONLY to the memorial???
by oompa ini was planning on going to a meeting or two with my wife.......maybe one or two a month.....but if i do...... i still really do not want to ever go to another memorial......they have weirded me out for years and most of jw friends know that........but you know once you skip a memorial it is like you are marked for death already....i mean word gets around fast "omg...i just heard oompa did not go to the memorial!
so how is this gonna fly if i go to a couple of meetings a month, but skip the memorial?
and if was gonna try to appease my wife by going to some meetings.......should i just bite the bullet and go to the memorial........and then maybe only do the memorial?......i always thought that was sooo funny that we had a bunch of once a year jw's.........they loved coming and rejecting jesus every year..........oompa.

There's always so many more at the memorial why not just go to that and blend in to please your wife. Remember, it is a shorter meeting and on a full moon so you can make wonderful comments on the way home about how beautiful the moon is that night. Maybe, on the way to the car you can slip your arm around her and get cozy and look into to her eyes and then at the moon. Hope it isn't raining. Wish you the best. I hated the memorial, too. It was creepy like you said.
