Parents have the right to refuse blood transfusions for their children in the U.S. That is the way it should be. Blood can carry many pathogens, and Parents have the right to make that decision. The Government should not infringe on that right.

Ahh! The 90'S. Grunge music was at it's height, rebellion was at the forefront. All of my friends left the Kingdom Hall like a wave of rebellion. None of it was planned or discussed. It just happened. I was 16, and I can remember our groups being called Cliques while we were there.
Are there any fellow rebels on this forum? The 90's were a hard time for the WTS from what I've heard.They lost a lot of people. I wonder how much the "Grunge" music scene played in that.
I know that the music and the culture played a huge part in my ideology at the time. It represented all of the angst and rebellion I felt. I still feel it.
My JW aunt told me some time ago that, "Jehovah lost a lot of people back then." She was talking about my Generation.
Did my Generation take a toll on the WTS?
some persons need to feel they are validated because they don't have much going for them otherwise.
being a part of jehovah's organization makes them feel special.
being different from other religions makes them feel recognized,.
I was part of a huge group that left in the mid to late 90's. I left home at 16, was a huge follower of the "Seattle Scene" of Grunge rock. Rebellion was a huge part of the youth culture at the time.
But, there is nothing more relevant than Religion when you find serious problems in your life. I found guilt for leaving the WTS, and at the age of 20 tried to become one again. Bad choice. I found my rebellion was justified the first time around. It still is justified.
I used to wonder if being a Witness would straighten my life out and give it meaning. I can see that it won't. But at least I don't have to come to a forum and post about it. Too late.
i've got two boxes full of watchtower and awake magazines dating back to 2000 maybe abit further.
should i just trash them?

I see the responses you get to your thread starter, and it reinforces the bitterness I see here.
I suggest doing what I do with the many magazines I have. I am talking about Guitar World, Car Craft, Guitar One, Field and Stream, etc. It is impossible to store all of these. A friend of mine suggested cutting out the articles that I found usefull, and saving these in a binder, folder, or what have you.
Sometimes there is an article that you don't want to get rid of for reference purposes. Save what you want, and throw the rest away.

I love classical guitar music. The musician whom I am most familiar with is Andres Segovia. I really like Bach, and hearing Andres Segovia play it on the guitar is incredible.
I would post a pic, but he is dead. His music lives on.
I have to add how some metal music has used classical music as an influence. Who would expect Heavy Metal in the "underground scene" to incorporate classical music into their style?
i remember this happening to my dad, when i was just a kid.
there was a disfellowshipped brother in the cong, whom my dad had been friends with.
before the meeting, my dad just nodded hello to him, didn't even say the word.
I have a similar experience Keyser.
I remember waiting for my Dad after the meeting one night, while him and other Elders counseled my Cousin for talking to her DF'd sister at the Kingdom Hall. I must have been 14 at the time. I couldn't believe how my Dad could do that, and I didn't like how my cousin couldn't even talk to her sister who was blood. That is wrong on so many levels, it stuck with me and influenced my leaving.
i am wondering how much of my anxiety about the end of the world is from the wt experience, and how much is just me.
i just watched wall-e, and while a cute movie, it really made me anxious.
