when i bring a subject up and then talk about old wt's or the blood fraction, i occasionally get that response.. yes, i know i can reply, "but i am telling you the truth.
don't you want the truth?".
but i am looking for something more subtle, something that can help a witness to get beyond their cognitive dissonance.. but without a standoff.

here on jwn, i have noticed the following things we have in common:.
we all thought we were alone with our doubts.
we all sat at meetings feeling something was wrong.
Here on JWN, I have noticed the following things we have in common:

We felt a lot of emotion when we realized what is really going on
True, we have gone in different directions after we realized the truth about the truth. But I personally have been helped tremendously by this site and the fact that so many felt as I do. I will not need JWN one day, I think, but it serves a great purpose to those coming out, and those still in.
Comments or criticism welcome.

i am in my early forties.
grew up in the truth.
i remember talks at the assemblies by the governing body in the 80's.
So has ANYONE out there gone to a meeting lately where the atmosphere was exciting?
I used to think it was just a drudgery in my area, not anymore.
Oh yes, more stuff. At our last C.O. visit, no one signed up to give him lunches. He was upset, he said, "Come on, its just 4 lunches, that's it!"
The elders finally signed up.

i know weird scenario.
but would you lie to help someone?
for example, would you bribe a guard to let him out?
I disagree as well. I have lived in foreign countries, you might be surprised that even the Branch does some "negotiating" to get the literature into the country. That's just the way things work in those countries. And how many of us can say we are 100% honest in EVERYTHING anyway?
I think the analogy fits because Witnesses, especially those born-in, don't have a choice. The same as children born into an extremist Muslim family, why do they think like that? Their parents raised them that way.
And Witnesses are taught that to be a good person, avoid evil. That includes evil apostate websites. It is an act of disobedience to the Organization to come on here.
If I had seen others leave the Organization and their family took their example and left also, I would definitely follow their example. But what I read on this forum is that those who have left are being shunned by brainwashed family. Coming straight out and telling your family and friends doesnt seem to work with a brainwashed person.
Thus the "theocratic warfare"
And thanks to the person who sent me the link to the brother who helped his family out little by little, I got some good tips from him.

Good points B the X. I like the Gas running out illustration. Funny I still still use the word "illustrations."
The District Convention, yes I forgot about that. Last year even the Drama wasn't a big deal. It was so far from the Bible it was weird. They take an account and then put all of the Theorcratic modern words in there and try to make it fit. The old days of huge applause and productions is gone. Its all about being loyal and obedient. Looking around, I see fewer and fewer taking notes, I mean, what notes are we going to take? When we were younger there were always new points. Not anymore.

Awhile back brother Velours, District Overseer said at a circuit assembly I attended: "You know brothers I am tired too. I go to bed tired, and I wake up exhausted." Yes, the District Overseer is EXHAUSTED. Thats what he said to the entire assembly of 1200 people.
And the Circuit Overseers too, seem to be preaching less. The last few C.O.'s seem to want to hit Starbucks right away after the meeting for service, they preach in the morning Wednesday and Thursday, Friday they have stuff to do, Saturday shepherding calls with the elders, and that's it.
I remember the C.O.s used to be out ALL DAY, even evening witnessing sometimes.

my experience?
in the past few years, i liked to research stuff on the internet for talks.
and for experiences, i used to google jw's to see news articles.. then one day last year, i saw this site, and it said that it discusses anything related to jw's.
It seems so many on here were nervous when they first came on here. And we all thought that we were the only ones with doubts and problems in our congregations. What an eye-opener. This site has helped me tremendously, I feel like a different person since I first came on here as a Witness with anxieties and stresses.
Actually, I should say I feel like I am a real person now.

Johnnytwofeet, the books by Steve Hassan about cults are excellent. Releasing the Bonds, and Combatting Cult Mind Control. Many on here recommend them and I am now reading them also. He writes, as most experts on cults say, that intelligent people can be sucked in to a cult.
Why they stay in a cult is also commented on.
