Each year someone should compile the amount of known suicides within the witness ranks. It would be an eyeopener I am sure.

rich and james out of guilt, richard out of depression.. james and rich were both under 30 years old.. after richard wheelock (a bethel heavy) killed himself the society changed it's stand on whether suicides could be resurrectioned or not..

Westboro Church Update on BBC
by cofty inright now there is a documentary on the bbc about louis theroux' second visit to the infamous phelps family.
it's a follow up to a similar documentary four years ago.. a considerable number of members have left in the last few years while the cult has become even more extreme.
louis has just interviewed young woman who has got out and started nursing.

It has already been said but if you strip away the crazy protests you basicly have the WTBTS. The things being said are actually the same things said by members of the watchtower, albeit not publicly.
I'll say it again, they are getting results with their message. It is making it to the ends of the earth with all of the publicity.
At least this churches leader would give some 5 minutes of his time to ask questions unlike the GB within the watchtower.
Hey, has any heard of some reporters trying to get an actual interview with a member or several members of the GB at the same time to ask some pointed questions.
But it is hard to put some old factory workers out there and expect them to perform.

Clarity---yes been dealing with wife and other issues relating to the WTBTS.
pirata---yes that was the thread, but the way I read it, he was asking them for forgiveness of the sin more than the other, but that may have just been understood.
Asking the WT for forgiveness maybe something we see more of in the future as they take more of God's position than they already have. They are positioning themselves as more of a partner to God as in a marriage whereby God must take into consideration his wife's opinion.

I was looking through the site based on a recommendation from another thread on JWN.

This is not like the "truth" you had in the institution. That "truth" used to wait around to see what you would do with it, to see if you were worthy of it or could live up to its standards. And then, based on your behavior, it would adjust its opinion of you. It could damn you as easily as bless you, scare you as easily as comfort you. It all depended on-you.
Real truth is not like that. It's stronger and more sure of itself. Human foibles cannot hope to alter it.
In 29 A.D., you did not join Jesus Christ by signing a statement of faith. You did not go to Jesus Christ's church, because it didn't have a settled location. What you did was you started following Him down the road.
I thought it was very apropo.

Do you get hassled for posting here frequently?
by sabastious inmost people in my life that know how frequent i post on this forum find it very troubling.
i have often been accused of "not being able to let go.
" i don't agree that i post here because i'm not willing to let go, i think i post here because i think this place helps other people and i want to be part of it.

I am officially a thread killer. If I post the thread usually dies.
I find that if you are not well known on here then people usually don't give you the time of day, kind of like in the borg, social cliques.
But I do come for the info and that's about it.

I sued the local congregation
by chukky 594 inseveral years ago, before my wife and i left, my 5 yr old daughter got up during the watchtower to cross the aisle to sit with someone else.
she tripped on the roving microphone wire and smashed her head on the foot of a metal chair.
the bleeding was profuse and an ambulance was called.

Keep in mind that, although I agree that we are to litigious in this country. Having said that if the WTBTS had the opportunity to cause us as desenters and "apostates" harm, they would do it under that banner of spiritual warfare. They would not hold back as soilders of Jah.
So it is war and as you all know, "Alls fair in love and war."

Taking Notes at Meetings and Assemblies
by punkofnice ini was considering recently the value and content of talks by reviewing notes i'd taken.. it seems i've taken copious notes but the content was naff.
not because i'd missed interesting bits but the talks were bland 'ministry' adverts.. the talks all seemed to be full of 'do more or god will murder you'.
'feel guilty because you don't measure up.

It is interesting that you bring this up because the other day I was thinking how much more an attendee could get out of a convention if the society reccommended that the witnesses use the Cornell note taking system or some other more effective system for later review.
Then I realized if they did use a college form of notetaking then witnesses could easily see the repetition and perhaps do further effective research later thus leading them to connect the dots necessary for finding out that the reasoning is full of logical fallicies.
Of course you will always have the nazi like devotees no matter what is said. But education does encourage people to be more proactive and to gain control over their lives.
