  Dear Governing Body,

  Can you sleep at night? Can you look at yourself in the mirror without feeling at least a modicum of disgust? Are you haunted by the souls of those who have died for your policies, which you pass off as God's word? Do you feel even a twinge of remorse? Does it occur to you that your constant "new light" has made the sacrifices of those who have martyred themselves for your cause meaningless, in fact that you have tried to sweep their faithfulness to YOU under the carpet?

  I couldn't sleep if I were you.

  I hope you can't sleep either.

  Bad Associations spoil useful habits. Are the JWs right? Scripturally?

  it has been interesting for me to learn the various ways that the jws twist the scriptures to fit their own dogma.

  (of course jws aren't alone in that, but that's another topic.

  ) two quick examples of jws not following or going beyond the bible are blood and birthdays.

  In this article, {somewhere....I can't seem to find the quote} your governing body asks you outright: "...are you wise or stupid...for [even] associating with "apostates/ opposers

  Since when is "wise" the antonym of "stupid"? "Foolish", maybe. Another WT specific definition. Seemingly innocent choice of words with much deeper, darker implications.

  I remember being taught as a child that the word "compromise" was a bad word. Not just religiously, but in all situations.

  Question for any electricians or DIY people - help appreciated

  ok - i was doing some work on a circuit board (actually, it was a cd drive) and basically it all went badly wrong.

  i was trying to modify the circuit by soldering pins to the copper on the board, but before i did that i had to scrape away the protective layer on top.

  unfortunately, i scraped too hard and damaged the copper badly.

  The whole bitter experience has more or less made me into an atheist. I believe that God exists as an idea, useful in certain circumstances. It's certainly been put to use by the WT society. God as some real supreme being, tangible or intangible? No.

  Stevie Nicks -- witch?

  do the jw's still consider stevie nicks from fleetwood mac to be a pagan witch-type?

  i picked out the song "landslide" for my mother's funeral about a month ago, which most of my extended family, jw's one and all, attended.

  it didn't even cross my mind when i selected the song, my mom just had always liked it.

  the A. Again you have to highlight and then click on the yellow pen above.

  Hope: It doesn't bother me in the least--it's a beautiful song, that's why I chose it. It makes me think of her life, not of her death, and that is a very positive thing for me right now.

  BTW, how do you do quotes from other posts here? Like with the yellow background? Sorry, kind of new to the forum thing in general.

Not that I really care what they think, and neither did my mother, but I wonder how horrified some of them were if that is indeed the case. I seem to remember my dad's JW brother making some kind of comment about it, and at the time it seemed a little weird, but it's making more sense now. . .

  Fridges could be used to store icing for birthday cakes. Is this the wholesome Christian environment you want to expose your family to?
