Try not to worry about. You could hit by a lorry today. At the end of the day, the great thing about it is.
If you did die in big apocalypse, your not alive to worry about it.
Dead people dont worry, worry about being alive.
Even if the big A came now, I'd die happy. Nowing something special happened.

Kind of funny that people would actually think that a modern government would "ban Religon" the fact if they wherr going to do such a thing they WOULD not annouce it.
Governments are and always have tried to control greats that threaten there security. FOr example a law on promoting hatred already exists in the UK, along with other laws that effectivly ban "terrorist" organizations.
Many see the current "Islamist" issues as a sign of the inpending doom of organized religon. Yet it is only mainly the Wahhabism section islamic community that really poses this threat. Although the islamic community as hall may partially sympathise for these "extremists" ideals. Generally, its widely accepted that the key to ending these dangerous elements will come from WITHIN Islamic community. The UN would never directly BAN any religon, especially religons that do not have a centralised organization. Attacking would simple stir up more resentment, be that overt military action or economic actions.
Simple put, no government of the world, DO NOT have the capabability to successfully remove or limit a de-centralized religon such as Islam. While it could be said that important componants of such religon could be siezed. Yet we can see today in Jerusalem the effect this has. So again. No government has the capability to BAN RELIGON.
Centralized religons like the Jehovah's Witnesses and even Catholics to some degree could be in a threatended position. Not only from the governments but also by the law. We have seen changes over the years in the structures of these organizations to avoid liability, tax and getting dirty in generally.
Governments limiting freedom of expression is another argument entirely and is under threat worldwide. Yet an outright ban on organize religon seems an unreasonable and expensive thing to do. Maybe an effective ban on money making organized religons, yes.
I could be wrong of course, lots of bad things would have to happen for any goverment to get that desperate. Its worth noting lost of goverments have tried to ban various forms of religons over all the ages of man. Nearly all of failed or led to excessive bloodshed. -

I'm in need of song suggestions, please. Thanks in advance!!!
by TheSilence inmy brother and my mom are trying to find a song to dance to at his wedding.
we've pulled up a lot of lists of common songs and none of them are really what they're looking for.
i just came up with the song below as a suggestion, which i think is the best option so far, but i thought i'd see if any of our music connoisseurs could come up with some other suggestions.

we would just open the door and say "Oh, 'I'm not interested', You say? You have your own religion? Too bad, too bad, you great city, for in one hour your judgment came.
Someones bitter. wow. In bad taste to the max.
Shame because i reckon it would be quite interesting writing a story about DAY ONE. Like the last surivivors.I dont mean from a JW angle. -

The Watchtower Organization - A Toxic Parental Figure
by Jeremy C inalmost everyone who leaves the watchtower organization acknowledges the fact that the jehovahs witnesses leadership is quite masterful when it comes to using guilt as a means of motivation and coercion.
throughout the watchtower articles, convention talks, and talks given by traveling overseers, there are often statements woven into the material that are designed to evoke feelings of guilt in those who are not robotically falling in line with all organizational programs and group-think.
in addition to the many cliches, buzzwords, and catch-phrases used in watchtower material, the organization also makes comparisons between the field service activities of witnesses in one part of the world to another part of the world.

A kind loving elder (i mean that bytheway) who had spent many years in bethel the once told me.
They are taught (think it was elder skool not sure) that there 2 main ways of "motivating" a congregation.
Fear and
Guilt it left me bemused. This was about ten minutes before he asked me if i wanted to be a MS. I declined. -

Do active JW's on this forum still practice shunning?
by Thechickennest injust wondering if active jw's on this forum or jw's just watching this board still put into practice in one way or another, shunning?.
what is the motivation do so?
is it to save face or relationships?

Yes, in some case's. Let me explain.
By shun, i mean no longer socalise. Genrally I would still say hello, polite conversation and make eye contact if this was in a open enviroment where i could without consequences.
I have grown up with a few people who's behaviour has been very immoral. Basically anyones who's lied to me personally or implicated me in some trouble of sorts. I would completly ignore anyone implicated with any pedo behavor. We had "brother" visit from a bail hostel. He had to be escorted by the elders. he was a convicted pedo & i also know another brother who was convicted for looking child pornography, his excuse is that they where 16 so its as bad. Still would avoid this person.
Also i would "shun" if the where consequences. Basically when DF'd or DA'd person is seen talking to a witness, this can get the witness in a lot of trouble & get the DF'd person in more trouble. Especially if they want to be reinstated. Which lots do. Still sometimes eye contact and smile can say more than a thousand words.
I have uncles that have left "the truth", both lead "morally different" lives. they where baptised, so i should shun them in theory. I dont. -

Jehovancholia
by gloobster inso, finding this forum and making a couple posts, along with other events in my life in the recent past, has made me a little melancholy about the old hingdom kall.
since most of my memories of attending meetings, going out in service, etc., are from my childhood, they tend to have that effect on me.. i have played the piano for 19 years now.
it's my one real passion.

Omg, TOtally hate all that custom leather crap. Like "I value the bible that why i all my books are in custom leather holders". Its just all a bit too "weaponized". When i went out on the ministry, all i took was the bible. thats all you should need.
A sister in my hall regualry makes big orders for these kind of things, its disturbing. All the stupid little planners with UNIQUE pictures like some communist era propaganada.
Serously anyone seeing a witness coming along with a custom TOTE bag and custom vinyl covers, would be freaked out as they put there details down in tehre yearly planners. -

The ''truth'' that lead me to question the WTS.
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe truth that leads to eternal life says on page 13:.
we need to examine, not only what we personally believe, but also what is taught by any religious organization with whichwe may be associated.
are its teachings in full harmony with god's word, or are they based on the traditions of men?
-
jakmarx
I personally do not have many greivances with specific teachings, even the blood issue doesn bother me. I mean ignoring the parralel prophecy and double fullfillment stuff that seems irrelevant to me personally.
Its a much more fundemental reason, JW's seem to act differently to Jesus. Having too much focus on self appreciation as an organization and puting themselves apart from the world.
The fashion thing is interesting, clothing is a a really important way of expressing ones self. By making people wear a uniform, which apparently avoids the fashions of the world (except it merely means to wear the fashions value of a quasi-victorian era 1950's reject),Is yet another way to control people.
Now I dont know why theres so much effort to control such minor things, I really doubt its a massive money making conspriracy. Plenty love it. Sadly I and lot of other people dont.
