I Had Lunch With Michelle Obama Today
by Justitia Themis inshe is an amazon...i'm guessing 5' 11" with big hips.
her speech was ok, but she says "um" a lot.
our table was very close, which translates into we paid $500.00, instead of $200.00, per plate for our cold chicken salad.

Heavy Metal monk Capuchin Friar Cesare Bonizzi!! RAWK ON!!!!
by Lady Zombie inplease tell me there are some other metal fans in here besides me!
some of you mentioned receiving flack from the elders because you listen to rap, but surely there has got to be some other rock n' roll and metal fans in here.
i still remember the flack i got for listening to 80's music, classic rock n' roll (loved jethro tull, doors, pink floyd, and so on), and worst of all.....heavy metal!

Haha, that's pretty cool. I'm definately a heavy metal fan, I listen to all sorts of stuff though, but I surely mix some heavy metal in there too.
I listen to a few bands that my wife can't stand to hear apparently. It's ok though.
I really like heavy metal driving music. My car is a source of relaxation for me, and the combination of my car, and some good driving music is pefect. I think after today, it's exactly what I need.

Bad Associations spoil useful habits. Are the JWs right? Scripturally?
by Open mind init has been interesting for me to learn the various ways that the jws twist the scriptures to fit their own dogma.
(of course jws aren't alone in that, but that's another topic.
) two quick examples of jws not following or going beyond the bible are blood and birthdays.

I think they are in their determination of what a bad association is.
So I guess it's all about who you label as the person paul is talking about. Is it 6.5 billion of the people on the world, or is it actuallty a number far smaller then that?

just a typical marital counseling session?????
by oompa inso how did it go some have asked?
at some point the lady therapist asked me what was probably my number one concern....it just came out...."i don't know if i can stay married to a jw"...wife burst into tears...and never let up...not even on the way back to drop me off at work...i also said in session i would prefer an open minded wife, and i don't think wife would pick me now either...not an unbeliever, not an overdrinker, and that marriage to me meant being able to share pretty much everything with one another, my feelings, my friends, my concerns, and that i did not like living a double life...and explained what that was too......she of course said she would stay in the marriage, and mentioned the adultery only rule...so i said it sounds like she feels she is stuck with me...she said it sounds like our marriage is already over....the lady says she does know for a fact that jw's do indeed get divorced without sex sins...cause she has counseled more that one couple like us...one in, one out....that ended with divorce.
i did say nice things about her...said the things i love.....and vice verse...and we both said we wanted the marriage to work....so at least a good basis for continuing the sessions.....the lady wants us to find common ground and just ignore the religious difference for now...i said great but how can we do that when the religion is all encompassing to my wife...it is everything....i will be glad to go to the ground if she can find it....but she never got a chance to find it yet...we ran out of time.

Oompa...I'm not 100% sure where you stand on the scriptures and stuff,
But, she has to agree on a few things. First, God is more important then the WTBTS, secondly Jesus Is also more important. Third, we should believe the word of the Bible before the words of the WTBTS. And, then see if you can get her to agree, that if the word of any of those three disagree with the words of the WTBTS, then we should do what God, Jesus, and/or the bible says.
Then I suggest having her look up some scriptures on marriage.
1 Corinthians 7 is a chapter with ammo for both of you really.\
May also want to pick a neutral ground bible, JW usually brag that any bible will prove their truth.

oompa, it seems like you want to save your marriage, and you realize what needs to change somehow.
Of course, in any relationship, it's about both people bending to the other, neither of you can expect the other to go 100% there way. She clearly sounds like she isn't willing to bend at all, so you need to change that, and at the same time you need to be willing to bend too.
The hard part is, this issue is so integral to the hearts of both of you, that bending is probably the last thing either of you really want to do.
Ask her, what is she going to do to help save this marriage? Your going to a counselor, your including her in it, your not just walking out on her, your reaching out to her desperately it seems. You need to get her on the Marriage train, and get her to help you save this marriage, otherwise she's just lying to herself and to God by letting the marriage fall apart.
A JW may say they don't believe in divorce, but if she is divorcing you in her heart, and in her mind, then that's what matters to God, not some legal paper at the courthouse. That paper means nothing to God. If she's not trying to save this marriage with you, then she's divorcing herself from you already.
But this is all just my opinion and perception on the matter.

Men: what do you want us women to know to understand you better?

Haha, you know what, it's sad but true. I've been picking up a lot of the slack around the house, and I don't care, I think a relationship is supposed to be 100/100 not 50/50. And I'd feel so much better about all the stuff I do to keep our house going, get our kids to school, and her off to work, if I just got more sex.
No I'm not a househusband, I have a full-time job, she just seems tired all the time, and rarely tired at all.
I'm 30, and my wife is 28, and sometimes I think were in our 70's already.

what I find is interesting, is that no matter what you believe, in God, or in no God. It still takes faith to get there. Since no matter what the answer is in the end. You can't be 100% sure, you can be 99% sure. But short of dying and coming back to let us know...well you just can't be 100% sure. It takes faith to believe in God, just like it takes faith to believe there is no God.
Not to be confused with "the faith" or "The faithful" or any of those other bible pounder labels.

Lady Zombie is right, look around and see how other religions treat each other, explore other things. The more we learn the more we realize we don't know.
Lady Zombie, I'm sure you've gone through a lot to get to where you are today. And I guess I agree with you in a way. I don't think anyone can come to believe in God by reading the bible. The bible only tells you about him, much like any story book tells you about the main character. This in itself does not inspire belief, I don't see how it could.

yeah, I'd agree with avoiding a pedohpile and stuff like that, but since the elders cover most of that up, you never know who your talking to.
In regards to 16 year old pics, well yeah, that's not cool, but legal in the UK... Elizabeth Hurley was naked in a movie at 16. I'm not supporting it, but I am saying you should avoid manipulation by goverment as well as JW.
