Hello JWT! It's very difficult to suddenly have to curb the impulse to speak out when you observe these errors and contradictions, when you've been taught all your life to do just the opposite (to those of 'the world' of course.) I agree with the posters who've encouraged you to be cool, especially until you're done with school. Sometimes we're convinced of things mentally long before we're prepared to act on them emotionally. Give yourself time for your emotions to catch up to your knowledge. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, there's very little more difficult in life than what you're going through. I know you'll find a lot of encouragement and good advice here.

Guest with Questions, beautiful work! I hope you get to do some painting soon.
Quentin, very strong and well-done imagery there.
coffee_black, your son's drawing is wonderful...what a nice gift you've passed on to him!
This is a great thread...I'm graduating this spring with degrees in graphic design, love seeing everybody's work. If I can follow Homerovah's advice, I'll post something of mine too.

A question for you guys who edited your own "Revelation Climax (AntiClimax) Books
by Alpaca ini left in 1997 so i didn't enjoy the privilege of editing my personal copy of the book.. there was a thread on here a few years ago about it but i was left with the impression that it was just a few marginal notes.. now, on another thread there are comments about cutting and pasting stuff into the book.. just how extensive were the edits?.
i cannot believe the borg (sorry, yes i can) would direct such a bizarre exercise for publishers.
how many of you said wtf?.

It was a creepy thing to watch my husband do. I didn't realize they did print a new edition. Why didn't they just do that in the first place? That's not their usual style. Generally they amend with no mention of it at all, and generally nobody notices, which is the whole point I'm sure.

The Secret Pioneer School Manual
by WuzLovesDubs ini saw one up close and personal because the jw annointed sister who was studying with me, told me that if i looked up every scripture in her (illegally gotten before the school started) pioneer school book and cut it out of old green nwts and pasted them in the margins, it would make her a stronger pioneer and jehovah would reward me.
and in the process i would learn where things were in the bible.. gosh what an incredible honor i was blessed with!
you know i did it..i didnt know a damn thing.

Amen! I hate that kind of stuff. I understand privacy, and I understand confidentiality. But when you have things set up like this it divides people into privileged classes, which is absurd when it comes to religious training. Unless of course you have a magical priesthood to maintain.

My radical shifts
by AK - Jeff infor the best part of 48 years of my life, most would not be able to separate the views i had at 18, with those i ended my witless career at 48.. now, over a period of 5 years, i have changed, molded, vascilated regarding spirituality, religion, god, sex, money, nationalism, etc, etc., almost more times than i can count.
my views are constantly morphing.
sometimes i feel like i have no foundation for any of my values.

My son and I were just discussing this last night. He works at a company where many witnesses are employed, and although he's not a witness, all the non-jw's there go to him for information. When he tells them he's not a witness, a lot of them (his age, early 20's) say, why? so what DO you believe?? and he said he realized that he doesn't think he believes anything. And I have to sympathize with that feeling. I've been trying to figure this out myself. When you say, "Sometimes I feel I have no foundation for any of my values" I can really relate to that. But I think maybe that's because we've been so conditioned to ascribe anything good within ourselves to the Bible and God.

There was a supplement in the KM I believe, but some very zealous person in my husbands book study printed all of them out on self adhesive peel-and-stick sheets...I really had a hard time wrapping my mind around that one.
