Is this a transcript of an audio tape? And if so where can I find the audio recording to go along with it?

I like GL Tirebiter's suggestion on religious freedoms and how certain religious groups want it for themselves but
don't want their individual members to have it in regards to questioning them.
Another suggestion could be to show how incredibly dangerous and fatal it can be to have shifting religious beliefs/doctrines
on important decisions such as medical treatments relating to blood transfusions, organ transplants etc.
Whatever you decide on I wish you well on it.
Are you going to be able to share said essay with us after it is completed?
P.S. Hope your crappy week gets better!!! :)

I'm so glad you guys cleared that up about mother's day. (that it's in the UK and not the USA)
I was starting to worry.
In my mind I was like , well I've already had everything I once believed in as far as JW related totally ripped to shreds
so now you're going to tell me that Mother's day isn't in May.
After reading this thread I see I wasn't the only one.
Quoting cognac:
Thank-you! I didn't even know it was mothers day! It's my first mothers day! Now I have to celebrate!!!
cognac that is priceless. I laughed when I read that because I was having to think about it as well.
It just illustrates how far removed from the real world we are/were because of being either raised as a JW or spending
an extended length of time in the Org.
Edited to add: Happy mum's day to all you in the UK

No words to express how much I dispise Religion. This is just disgusting!!!!
by whereami ini dare any christian out there to watch this video and try to defend your unloving, no mercy, no forgiveness faith/god that you all claim to have.. anyone in their right mind watches this in disgust.
how can anyone want to serve a god that demands this type of vile behaivor towards others?.
notice the poor ignorant african people being brainwashed into believing this tripe.
-
StoneWall
Shouldn't that be despise instead of "dispise" in the thread title?
Be that as it may I can see how watching that video can make you upset.
That is why even tho judge J.F.Rutherford got many things wrong, I can wholeheartedly agree with his statement
"religion is a snare and a racket"

Nathan H. Knorr: Parenting Views. "Your child is a thief!"
by Open mind ini recently started perusing the 192 page report on the 1963 "everlasting good news" assembly.
here's a gem from page 15 describing the high points of a talk by nathan knorr:.
addressing himself to parents in the audience, he asked: "how many times have you mothers or fathers told a child not to take something, and the child just goes ahead and takes it anyway?
-
StoneWall
This calls to my mind that saying "it takes a thief to catch a thief"
or better yet "it takes one to know one"
Maybe dear ole Nathan had experience from taking all those contributions/donations as well as other peoples time
and flying around the world at their expense.
He mighta wanted the parents to send him the cookies instead of the kids taking them.

Story on ABC news program 20/20 tonight could have very far reaching effects and ramifications for JW's/ Ex- Jw's in regards to family relations in USA.
by StoneWall insaw some snippets from the show earlier on gma (good morning america) and i was surprised at.
what a judge had already ordered in regards to a child of a divorcing couple, the husband is.
catholic and the wife is a jew.. the wife was able to get a decree from the judge, prohibiting the husband from taking the child to.

Just thought I'd add also that this thread is from 11 days ago so the story will not appear tonight.
Needed to clear that up in case any might be reading it for the first time. Just was updating the latest I saw on the story.

ziddina ya that Uganda story was horrific.
I had to stop watching after a few minutes of that story cause it gave me a bad queasiness in my stomach.
I know when a story hits me that hard to stop watching it or I want to hurt the ones responsible for it.
But back on the other story I found an update I thought I'd pass along. It really doesn't surprise me about what the
husbands attorney found out about the judge. I figured something was up with the way it was worded about the "jewish
religion only". I will quote it below and also post the link for any to go check out the whole article that would like to.
He argues in his pleadings that he and Rebecca weren't truly Jewish, because they didn't keep a kosher home or observe Sabbath. And Reyes and his lawyer requested, and won, a new judge because the original judge, Edward Jordan, is Jewish. None of this has anything to do with the actual case, but it does get the old blood pressure soaring.
Does what I underlined in the quote above shock anyone about the judge? This is what I figured early on would be the case.
Anyways here is the link to the article I quoted in case anyone wants to read the whole account.

I can understand the feeling of not sure of whether to go for the announcement.
When I was DF'd over 20 years ago, I went for the announcement.
It served multiple reasons for me to be there when it was said from the platform.
I wanted to show that I was man enough to take the punishment. I'm not the type to run from something because it
may be uncomfortable or a hardship. I like to grab the bull by the horns so to speak and hang on for the ride.
That's why after being reinstated in less than a year after it happened, it is so hard for me now to try and pull off a
successful fade. I'd rather be done with it and tell them what I really think about it all but as of now trying to pull
the fade for family's sake. I come from a big family with many on mom's and dads's side in the Org.
Another reason for me wanting to be there for the announcement was I wanted to see how it affected the ones in
the congregation. They waited on saying it that night till after the concluding song and right before the ending prayer.
The brother (Elder) that announced it had been a friend of the family for years and I had worked for him once upon a time.
He was slated to give the concluding prayer but started crying and another brother came up to do the prayer for him.
A sister after it was announced came up to me as I was on my way out the door and hugged me and said she would
always love me and have a place in her heart for me. I will always remember that sister.
But conversely I took a look back at the Elder that was the chairman on my judicial committee and it was almost as a
smile on his face. He and I never was close and we both knew the looks in our eyes that night and what it meant to us.
His expression on his face told me all I needed to know from that time onward.
Needless to say he was gone to another congregation by the time I sent in my reinstatement letter.
In my heart I know if he was still there I wouldn't have got reinstated as soon, if ever.
I will say this to you tho. If you feel a strong need to go as I did, then by all means go for it.
I knew back then if I didn't go, there would always be that lingering in my mind of how it went over, who actually said it
from the platform etc. Some people don't care and don't want to know. Me I was different, I had to know.

As You've Gotten Older Have You Changed Your Thoughts On Marriage?
by minimus inmany witnesses got married at a young age (because they felt they had to).
you can't sin, right?.
some people get married and for years, are very happy.
-

I got married at the age of 21. My wife was 18
I honestly have to admit if I knew back then what I know now about life in general and also about the WT being so
full of crap, I'd have waited. The pressure from the WT society was always present and you shouldn't be dating unless
it's with marriage as the goal.
Sometimes I'm a little envious of George Clooney with not being married and dating a different beautiful actress or model
every other week or every few months. No dead lines on a certain time to be home or the wife will panic thinking somethings
happened to you. Being able to stay out late with your friends and drink or just shoot the breeze about anything.
(reminds me of when George Clooney and Danny Devito stayed out all night drinking lemon drops, and next morning
Danny had to appear on the View. That was so funny seeing him trying to act sober.heehe)
But having said that, I've had single friends tell me how envious/jealous they are of some of us married guys.
As I typed that I couldn't help but think of that scripture in 1Corinthians 7:27 "Are you bound to a wife? Stop seeking
a release. Are you loosed from a wife? Stop seeking a wife. "
