Better not touch your winky then or you'll get busted!

i've been doing a bit of painting around the house.
(touching up trim and chipped paint).
while handling the paint i discovered something odd:.

yes I was initially talking about religion in general as regards this test, but heck it can even be adjusted to the
individual believer if they so desire. If they can perform it without being a part of religion then thats even better.
To further illustrate my point, you know how in the bible it talked about the magic practicing priests of Moses day
turning their staff(Rods) into snakes after Aaron had done the same thing?
Even if we buy into the argument that God isn't interferring in the affairs of man at this time, then why can't the priest
of today do the same thing as the ones of old, since evidently it wasn't God who caused their rods to turn into snakes.
Why is it every time that we hear that either God,Satan or a angel or demon did something back in the bible days,
it can't be duplicated today? Talking about how many times would it have to be done to convince people, why waste
all that time back then when only one time would work now for the whole world since we could all document it with
our cameras, video recorders, and beam it worldwide with our satellites for the benefit of all.
so it would be pretty interesting if someone got df'd at an early age--20 or 30 or so--and kept attending meetings for the rest of his or her life without getting reinstated.
imagine jws in the presence of a df'd person for sixty years, without acknowledging the person's existence.
they'd watch the person grow older and more feeble, and all the while they'd believe that the person is going to die because of the d'fing.
I would have to say that would be an interesting experiment but who in their right mind would ever suffer through that?
Poor places how old are you? You might be a good candidate for this experiment if you're young enough since you came
up with it.
And keep us updated on how things are going as the years go by.

How many times does God have to do the same thing before someone will believe ?
How many times does someone have to pray or attend meetings/church to prove their faith/belief in God?
Once?
Twice?
a hundred times?
If people are expected to continually show their respect/belief/faith in God by their works(prayer, attendance, good deeds)
and we are supposedly made in God's image is it too much to ask for him to do something more than once?
we are a unique breed whom outsiders apparently find fascinating.. a lady and i were discussing this at the beauty shop on yesterday; her take on it is that we are hidebound traditionalists who are unashamedly sweet and sentimental.. what's your view?.

Watching the news or a documentary with a southern gal
Why in the hell would you be watching the news or a documentary with a southern gal?
You make news with a southern gal and other people document what you're doing trying to learn from the best.

I think this Hank Williams jr. video pretty much sums it up about what it is about southern women.
Listen to the words and don't let the eye candy distract you from the WORDS.
i was discussing doctrine with my mom, to try to get her to see things in another way.
unfortunately things got heated.
she obviously has doubts, but seems to be of the thinking of better not to question and just go along.. she did make a good point though.
These ones also made mistakes (apostles, David, cicumcision issue, Paul's issues with brothers, etc.),
and they continued in Gods favour
Couldn't all religions claim the same thing then based on this. That they make mistakes because they are sinful/imperfect
but still curry God's favor?
What does her own bible say? Ask her how many times the first century christians picked dates for the end to come.
Then have her read Luke 21:8 from her NWT:"He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the
basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them"
Then after reading that scripture to her from the society's own translation of the bible, ask her how many times has the
Watchtower society (J.W.'s) claimed that the end was at hand? Ask her if the years 1914,1925,1975 etc. ring a bell?
good morning everyone, "happy sunday"!!
:d. i thought i would post this for all the newer ones who may have never listened to this audio...as it is one i listened to when i was first exiting, and has stuck in my memory...it is excellent!!!
so pour your self a nice hot cup of coffee, and enjoy!!
Good morning to you Lady Liberty!
I would like to state that for me personally this was the biggest turning point in my early part of my fading away from
the WT organization.
After I heard this audio of Rick and Laverne's judicial committee, it was at that time that I knew there was no going
back for me. Rick handled this with much dignity, courage and was very adept at using the scriptures to defend his
stance on issues.
I wish that all witnesses as well as ex-witnesses had the chance to listen to this audio.
I keep a copy that I burned to a cd in my file cabinet in case anything ever happens to the originals or gets pulled from
the internet for whatever reason.
I would love to someday be able to meet both Rick and Laverne and express my appreciation in person to them for
helping me to see the truth about the so called "truth".
I must agree that the truth does set you free.

To set the stage this was were Elijah had the people gathered together at Mt.Carmel, along with the
450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the sacred pole. It was a test to prove to the people
who the true God was and also show who was following him.
Elijah made a big spectacle over this by not only gathering the people together but even going so
far as to cast disparaging remarks and mocking the prophets of baal by saying their god must
be"in the privy(toilet) ,or maybe he is asleep and ought to wake up."(verse 27) and that is why
he didn't come and consume the bull offering.
To make a long story short, Elijah finally calls on his god Jehovah, and his God in verse 38 causes
a fire to come and consume not only the bull offering but all the wood, stones and the dust as well as
the water in trenches it licked up. Thus showing to all gathered who the true God was and who his
followers were.
My question is this:
If the churches claim to be following this same all powerful God,and he is the same yesterday,
today and forever, then shouldn't they be able to perform this same test?
Or will they look for an excuse such as we have the bible now and they didn't back then.
Or that you shouldn't put God to the test. (yet 'evidently' it was ok for Elijah to put him to the test)
Are they afraid that the test may show their god to be sleeping as Elijah said of Baal?
Any thoughts, comments or viewpoints on this?
drew sagan in a recent post (he recently graduated college) said this, something that i agree with and frankly, think about often.
to those of you who feel that you need to "help others" in the watchtower i give you this word of caution.
be careful, because that may simply be an excuse you are using to remain stuck in the past.
My question is this then:
If someone was married and then got divorced...how long in their life would they be considered an ex-husband or ex-wife?
(unless they remarried their former spouse)
Even tho they are an ex-husband or ex-wife it doesn't mean it occupies their whole life or way of thinking.
But ever now and then someone else may be fixing to go through a divorce and it brings back the memories and heartache
of the person that has already gone through the ordeal.
And then they can offer words of encouragement, support, or just let the new ones know that life does go on after the
divorce and with all the hurt, pain, and depression they are currently feeling it does get better with time.
Same thing with being a ex-JW. You can always help the new ones that are having to deal with all this emotional trauma
of exiting what they at one time in their life felt like was the truth.
