  If I surface years after I was molested, and I've finally gotten the courage up to face my attacker, never having utterred a word to anybody before, isn't that simply one person's word against another's? Yet, I will have succeeded in royally messing up somebody's life, perhaps like they have royally messed up mine. The "two witnesses" thing has its' place, and civil suits have thiers. Sometimes throwing a case out of court is the best thing a judge can do.

  Is it impossible that anybody will ever point their finger at YOU?

  Is there any such thing as a Jehovahs Witness being wrongly accused? Or is this a kangaroo court?

  i've been doing a lot of thinking and have been leaning toward a new conclusion about god.

  i'm thinking that i believe in his existance but think that he does not play an active role in our lives.

  he does not cause evil but also does not bless...... what do you think?.

  wasn't there some millionaire a few years back that offerred big bucks to anybody who could PROVE to him the existence of a spirit world? I wish I could remember...

  But as to the original question,"Why are people so offended..." there is nothing so near and dear to a person as thier personal beliefs. That's why the JW's are taught to look for "common ground" when they come to change your personal beliefs. Don't step on toes while you actually explain what you are thinking...

  Also, most people don't really WANT to fry thier brains trying to work this all out. Who can know???

  blondie, you're right, I have no hard numbers on the subject, only my own observations. But anybody can see how manipulated John Q Public is by the media, and that's my point. Everybody jumps on the bandwagon for a righteous cause...and it IS righteous, but is the noise in proportion or is it just another media feeding frenzy, coupled with an opportunity to see the WT in the worst possible light, the obvious agenda of many here?

  this child-abuse thing. Disgusting? Yes. More prevalent than ever? Probably widespread. Does carrying a bagful of Watchtowers and Awakes help identify a child molester? Gimme a break, it should be so simple. Is this a feeding frenzy fuelled by the media and our own emotions and natural inclinations to protect our kids? I think it is. I think a lot of the folks who post here paint a delicate scene with too broad a brush.

  I would respectfully submit that the percentage of deviants in the org. is only slightly higher than in the general population, and that only because the new, stricter guidelines for elders are only recently taking effect, thanks to the almighty, monetary consequences of their previous negligence.

  To those who have had thier bad experiences within the WT, my full sympathy and support.

  Confessed my Doubts to my Wife

  well - i today i had the opportunity to tell my wife i no longer believe in the things that i have spent my life immersed in and that i didn't want my life run by 9 geriatrics in brooklyn.. her reaction was understandable her first questions was "what have you been reading"?.

  i didn't mention this site but told her i was shocked by something i heard regarding the wts's ngo status with the un, dissapointed by the new light on the generation and disturbed by the flip flopping on blood fractions.

  i explained how these things were at best hypocritical and at worst have meant some people have lost their lives unnecessarily because of the societies previous position.

  My wife was born in, not me. It wasn't a good footing for a decent headship deal marriage. I've been browbeat all my life, it seems. If you could actually get my wife to THINK once in a while and get off of her self-righteous, self-assured horse, and actually GIVE her that 45 minute talk, I'd love to be there to see it! In the meantime, I'm trying to maintain the relationship, such as it is, and not rock the boat in our marriage. Maybe I'm an "enabler?"

  I'm jealous! My wife would jump my case with a 45 minute talk, complete with scriptures that so completely corner me that I just have to put my sorry little tail between my legs and run for cover.

  I'm in a much more subtle mode, if you haven't guessed.

  is there or has there been anything that has aided you in your quest to rid yourself of the bitterness and resentment of the jw's .

  i know for some it has appeared that they have a newfound religion or religious belief, but that is not the case with myself.. for some maybe visiting these sites encourages them to shed those miserable memories?

  for me it just builds more resentment.

  windows were discouraged by the Society on new halls. There is a potential for vandalism, and an insurance break is offerred to the congregations for leaving windows out. The hall here is new and has small windows. Pay the premium and have a good-looking hall that won't start tongues wagging, is my opinion!

  the annointed big shots all feel like they can spout of whatever comes to mind. We had a circuit overseer, annointed, who told young parents NOT to teach their children that God is "up there." His reasoning was that we are on a globe and we may not be pointing in the right direction because of the earth's rotation!

  Sheesh! Gimme some truth!
