my oldest daughter (who is currently up in ct) just called to tell me my stepmother (wicked witch of the west) was in an accident yesterday evening.
she was riding a moped and crashed it into a parked car (don't ask me what an overweight 53 year old woman with bad knees is doing on a moped but whatever...supposed to save on the cost of gas or something).
anyway...she shattered her right leg and wrist in the accident (her good walking side) and apparently will never be the same.
I don't need to bring up the weight...she knows about it and doesn't need me reiterating.
She hurt me BAD...you have no idea...but I'm no "Ms. Perfect" either. I hand out the same forgiveness I wish to receive. I hope this is the start of something better for ALL of us!
well i finally decided to post.
i have been looking at this site for many years(4 or 5 i guess) but never really felt the need to post until now.to give a little background i was raised in a strict jw family.
my dad was an elder for most of my childhood, po for most of it) thankfully he fell away when i was 15 or 16. so there was no pressure from him to get baptised.
Venting is always cool here (at least with me).
Alright, so your long-ago friend was a real stand-up JW (insert sarcasm here). Maybe he has finally come to terms with the "demons" and really means well this time. I've done a LOT of stupid crap in my life but continued to grow and change over time. It seems like he recognized that his previous actions were destructive and thought that was a result of leaving the organization...so many do. Right now he's trying to make things better...right the wrongs...and help you along the way. Can't really blame him, despite his heart being in the wrong place (with the JWs).
I would say understand where he's coming from but don't let it go any further. You can write him to wish him the best but remember what you know. If he's on here he obviously has had some serious doubts himself (beyond just getting DFed...took me 12 years after being DFed to come on a board of "APOSTATES"), hopefully those will keep him from getting too deep in again.
I can't offer much more advice except to say I'll be thinking of you and him... *Hugs* ~April

i left my chauvanistic po elder husband 2 1/2 years ago (after 20 years of marriage - ten of those spent pioneering as a couple).
i took my two beautiful teenage daughters with me - he did not seem to care too much that we were gone.
his main concern was the humiliation and aggravation of having to step down as an elder.
Welcome Mag! Your ex sounds like a jerk. Just be glad he didn't fight to keep your children involved...it could have been MUCH worse than it is from reading some other stories on here of people who've lost the fight to keep their kids out of the Cult.
Your ex probably fought for your DFing so he could go back to having a prominent place in the organization and snag himself a self-hating "sister" who has no problem letting him exert his masculine authority with her.
Here's something I don't quite get...most of the time men who are domineering bring a lot of that over into the bedroom. But with JWs all you have is missionary postition...lol...so what real benefit do they get for being "THE MAN" in the house? Just the feeling of superiority? Doesn't seem worth the trouble to me. If I were to claim "superiority" best be sure I'd be demanding some things in the bedroom that the JWs don't allow.

Link...he HAS to go. Not going is in effect admitting guilt AND showing unrepentance in the Elders' book. I didn't go to my hearing and what happened? I got DFed.

Well I just briefly talked to my husband...his first words were "Well that's what she gets...what goes around comes around!" I think he despises her more than I do...lol.
He got mad when I suggested finding a way to get me up there. Me jeapordizing our finances to help her is the last thing he wants me to do. I can't say I blame him...he doesn't understand what my doing that would mean to ME even if it means nothing to anyone else. I might just have to go for the thoughtful "gift from afar" instead...
