This one is mostly for those who believe in God ( though I don't wish to exclude any interested ). It is my belief that the J.W. organization painted a false picture of who God is by means of false doctrine, misinterpretation of scripture, and false prophesy. In doing so I believe that they formed a god of their own making, a false idol. After the founders were gone and the religious system took over it became more and more perverse as time went on. Claiming to represent God they were actually lording over their members with legalism and fear. I believe through perversion of God's Word they funneled worship intended for God to their leaders and organization. Most former J.W. members I talk to are so victimized by this experience that they are bitter towards the organization. This is perfectly reasonable and just. What I don't understand is why God is also a target of this same bitterness. It seems to me a lot of former J.W. still hold to some of the false doctrine even though they have escaped the system that propigated it. Philippians 2:12 says we're to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. The God I know is nothing like the one the J.W. preach. It is very frustrating to me to see attributes that should rightfully be placed on the organization being placed on God. I mean after all, he did give you the eyes to see the evil you were under. What I read on this site, from believers, is sometimes laced with comments concerning doctrines that are not consistent with actual biblical teaching. I quess this is just a feeble apeal to hold on to hope and give the real God of the Bible ( not a J.W. tainted bible ) one more chance. How do you know God isn't looking for a former J.W. to deliver his children from the falsehood that holds them captive? A God called former J.W. armed with the true Gospel could easily get a public venue. Radio ministries love this sort of thing.

Dogon, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. My best friend commited suicide one year out of highschool and I can sympathize with the dread of such a loss. He had been in a fight with his alcoholic father. He went to his mother's house, got really numb, and then hung himself with a toy bull whip. The loss still haunts me to this day.

They ripped out portions of Jesus' beard........when they were crucifying Him. Pharisees always hate beards. Like most everything with the doctrine of an Antichrist system, you can't find scriptural basis for it.

I have a dear friend who runs an orphanage in India ( Brother Pakash ). He is a devout non-denominational minister. They are constantly terrorized by the Hindu population. He runs many homes in various locations and they deal with threats and attacks every day. When they baptise a convert they have to sneek and do it at night or they will be mobbed. The persecution is at an all time high. Many of the believers he ministers to have been arrested, burned out of their homes, and killed for their faith. I don't know much about the politics of it, but the government only lets him opperate because he keeps some of the children out of the streets.

Megs, The people who died for their faith in a doctrine may have great faith but it is based on a doctrine. The Apostles died for their personal witness and testimony of the resurection of Jesus Christ and their insistance that He was God in flesh. Their martyrdom was based on what they saw. Remember Thomas, He wouldn't believe Jesus was raised until he put his fingers in the nail holes and his hand in his side. But after he did, he died at by impalement for his faith.

I have found the closest times I have, involve reading scripture after, or while I pray. I have been surprised at how good the line of communication is when I do this.

When I was eight my Grandfather, who was like a dad to me, was in a terrible accident. He suffered for days until he finally died. I became obsessed with God, the devil, and all things spiritual. I went back and forth from serious doubt to weak belief. I don't know why, but little by little my search for the truth led me to a faith in God. The Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust. The one question that always came back to me was- Why did all of the Apostles give their lives for thier faith? All of them held their testimony. John was the only one to not be killed, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. They boiled him in oil and when it didn't kill him they abandoned him on the isle of Patmos. Judas, after betraying Jesus, would have been a hero at the temple. The weight of what he'd done left him so hopeless that he killed himself. Even Matthias, who took Judas' place died for the faith. If Jesus had been a fake, I don't think I would have said crucify me upside down because I'm not worthy to die like my lord, Like Peter did. When they crucified Andrew, he saluted the cross and said he had awaited this moment with great anticipation. He then preached for two days, from the cross, 'till he finally died. They were skinned alive, run through with spears, beheaded, beaten with whips, imprisoned, stoned, ect. All of them held to their testimony. Many religions distort who Jesus is, this didn't stop me from looking for myself. those guys didn't die like that for nothing. I know that for myself now. God bless you!
