The one I could not stand the most was the "blood brochure" bookstudies. Even as a child it seemed so self righteous to call the doctors performing the surgery "rapist". Then all the ridiculous experiences about taking kids out of hospitals...just horrible!!!!

Boring bookstudy book...which one was the worst?
by White Dove ini remember the old timers saying that the red babylon book was the hardest to understand.. in my memory, i'd have to say the isaiah books and daniel book were the most involved and boring.. the revelation book had gorgeous pictures in it (the writing was horribly boring), so i just looked at them, and i was 22 at the first study of it!.

Latest United Nations-End of Religion-End of World alert
by Questions1 init has been awhile since i've posted anything, but i got this e-mail from someone who is on the edge of falling out of the borg due to mental stress.
i've attempted to verify the information, even called the united nations, but haven't gotten to a person who can say if this meeting happened.
my gut says this is a contrived experience with many details just not adding up...but you never know.

Elder stakeouts! Anyone done one / been a victim of one?
by sir82 insuppose the elders get an anonymous letter or phone call, or even a brave soul tells them that they no "brother so-and-so" is sleeping with "sister suzy q".
or a believing jw has a "non-scriptural" divorce, and wants proof her ex is sleeping with someone else.
the elders' manual says the "strong circumstantial evidence, such as evidence that the accused spent all night in the house of someone of the opposite sex who is not his wife or a family member" (paraphrase) can be used as evidence in a judicial case.. to get such "strong circumstantial eveidnce", elders have been known to "stake out" a house, spending all night in a car watching a house.. in all my time as an elder, i was never involved in one of these.

Undercover........that experience was similar to one of mine growing up! The elders told my mom that to be "free" she needed to have our father tell of his infidelity in front of one of her children so that she could have been "free".

How about those who got to go to college and the justification was that the FDS never said it was wrong to go to college just a conscience matter.........didn't one of the governing body members allow his son to go to Cornell? I think it was Shroeder.

by Samuel Thorsen ini did not, but i did fs when i had seriuos doubts and i thougt some householders had pretty good arguments some times, but i could not admit it of course.. and i did fs for a long time after i realized the magazines was very very poor.
i still remember my very last hour from door to door.
geee that was torture, i hatet myself and hoped no one was at home.. do you remember your last fs hour?

My last day out in service was 12-03-2000. The Giants where playing the Redskins and I kept interrupting the neighborhood and honestly thought they had a reason to be upset with me. It was to difficult to think we were being persecuted, I felt more like a riduculous nuisance!

Things That Irritated You When You Were A JW
by minimus inthere were some witnesses that loved taking notes for every meeting.
whatever you would say, the note takers were busy as a bee writing down every word.
especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.. another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part.

I would say it has to do with the age of the individual. I know that some old timers really probably do believe some things, that in no way would someone 40 or younger believe in and this in my opinion would be one of them!
