My name was brought up last night in the elders meeting !!!
by elder-schmelder ini was just told by my dad that my name was brought up last night in the elders meeting.. my dad (is or was) an elder, and he told me that the elders are going to be giving me a call.
they have heard rumors that i am an apostate !!.
he said that the elders received a call from another hall that heard that i was an apostate and 1 local brother also turned me in.. does this mean that they have 2 witness to my sin and that they can df me without a jc?.

Looking forward to hearing your wife's story in time.
Keep being kind and gentle with her, as her mind is probably in turmoil at the moment as she tries to get her head around all this new information.

Sisters crying in the kitchen/lobby
by highdose inyears ago i was at the revamp of a kingdom hall.
one of the sisters told me that since they got rid of the kitchen it was so much better, becuase there were always sisters out there crying!
and now they have no place to go, so they just have to stay in the hall and listen to the meeting!.

The very back row of seats at our hall were nicknamed 'the panic attack seats'.
Me and my husband would joke about it as I frantically cut my way through the bros and sisters enjoying 'upbuilding association' at the beginning of each meeting, just to secure my seat.
Literally, it was occupied by a sister who would suddenly faint and had to be carried out by her husband. Sisters like me who would suddenly burst into tears because of some deep seated trauma, that we have been told that only Gods system would rectify. Those who have been offended by others and wanted to make a quick get away when the meeting had finished. The rest were made up of those who knew that it was total crap coming from the platform, but they were just at the meeting to keep up appearances.
Toward the end of my dub years, those where the seats I would always sit in. In fact it was guarded quite jealously by us all and we would save seats for the 'regular' faces.
I would say over half of us are no longer JW's.

Help! Leaving the WT and realizing I'm a social misfit!
by 2pink inso, i'm 30-something and have been a lifelong jw, born and raised.
(yeah, i know double points against me on the social scale!).
i'm on my way out (and moving at a fast pace with that, lol) and um, am now realizing that outside of the kingdom hall, i am a bit of a social retard!

Hi 2pink.
I was in the same position. I had recently given birth to my daughter when we stopped going to the meetings, (I too was a born in JW and I'm in my 30's). I made a real effort to meet up with and stay in touch with the mums in my postnatal group and mums I met at play groups and other activity centres. I now have a couple of close friends.
I arranged lunch dates and trips out and just as importantly I made an effort to accept invitations, even when I didn't feel like it.
I also wanted my daughter to have a wide circle of friends too, so most of the effort I made was for her. And it's worked - we're often invited out to tea and birthday parties and have a Christmas party lined up too.

Sorry, I have to admit I was a lobby crier in my dub days.
I cried on the night they announced that a very good friend had been disfellowshipped. I was so shocked and distraught at the news that I had to leave the meeting early. I went home and text her to say that I would always loved her - have never spoken to her since - that was 4 years ago!!
I cried when they announced that a dear sister who was absolutely lovely had died suddenly earlier that day. They told everyone just before the last song and I was so choked up I couldn't sing ,so went out the back to cry.
Certain songs used to bring me to tears, mainly because they were the songs we sang at my dads funeral.
I cried loads of times after my first m/c. I just used to sit there like a zombie, listening to the constant droning from the platform. When I couldn't take it anymore I would go out the back to cry.
