  Banking Nightmare

  i had a horrible experience with bank of america yesterday.

  i needed to deposit cash in my checking account in order to cover a check i had written to cover my mortgage.

  bank of america has decided to close many of their full service banks and replace them with new fangled atm machines.

  Gives the term "One arm Bandit" a new meaning.

  Why would you put that amount of $$ in a machine???? Why would you even consider it?

  As many times as I have put $$ in vending machines for drinks or snacks and lost the $$....well, that has taught me a lesson. And if you try to get your $$ back from vending machine---ha! good luck. There is never anyone around to complain to. And if there is, they pass the buck; they are not responsible.

  Why would you even deal with Bank of America considering what they did to the poor people of Argentina?

  I had a BoA account once. I closed it and about 3 months later got a bill that I owed them money in service charges. They had been using a famous trick of theirs to bamboozle their stock holders. They leave a penny in the account when you close it. That way, your name will still appear on their rolls as an account holder and it beefs up the stats for the shareholders.

  watchman or undertaker?

  i am sure you have read ezikiels story of the watchman, jehovahs wittnesses use this example often as the reason for prophecy and preaching, it is a comendable thing to have a alert man standing watch over your home peace of mind is a good thing.

  but if this man sounds a warning of posible danger everyone in the home becomes alert and takes steps to protect themselves!.

  but what if the watchman gives an alert and everybody goes on the alert and nothing happens?

  I think it is the wicked who put us through all of our tests of "refinement". Their wickedness is the catalyst of how we react to social injustice, horrors, atrocities, etc. Some people ignore the plights of others; if it is not in their immediate group it is of no concern. Some people are followers and join in with the injustice when there might be some advantageous gain for themselves, and thus they are converted to the darkside.

  There are metaphorical scriptures about sifting and winnowing. Consider that the grains of wheat must rub against each other causing great friction in order for the grain to be separated from the chaff. Perhaps that is the purpose of the wicked.

  The next question is...was this the original intent of us being here? Or did this wickedness come from an outside influence? Was it some defect that evolved within our species?

  He Loved Her, by Snowbird

  he loved her.

  from the time she was a faded-denim-overall/flannel-shirted-wearing 3rd grader until she was a bell-bottomed-jeans/embroidered-dirndl-top/afro'd teenager.. when they graduated high school and went their separate, fortune-seeking ways, he loved her.. hundreds of miles apart, lonely and sad, each let their bucket down into the well of life and drank warily of its contents.

  yet, he continued to love her.. forty years, two marriages apiece, kids and grandkids, he still loved her.. divorcing, retiring, selling out, cashing in a 401k, moving back down south - home!

  How to Pray?

  i've been learning a bit about the early jews perspective on prayer and how it applied to jesus' model prayer in matthew 6. it's facinating to me.

  sometimes i forget how important prayer is to the christian in more than just asking for things and thanking god for things.

  i wanted to list a few perspectives the jews had on prayer and how we can benefit from it.. fist, they thought prayer should incorporate love and praise.

  If God is omnipotent, then he should already know your needs without you having to say anything. We at least do that for each other....how much more should an all knowing, all powerful, all loving God do for us?

  Too bad he's absentee. Good thing we aren't depending on pie from the sky.

  I don't pray. I don't speak words. I figure if there is anyone listening, they can read body language and know the expressions that come from my soul.

  I Believe Full Disclosure Is Moving Forward

  anyone who deeply believes in a "free press" is very naive in my opinion.

  for example, consider how stories about scandal suddenly appear out of nowhere after candidates actually start running.

  i am also aware of how surprizing revelations appear in european newspapers about figures in the us - while little or nothing is reported in the american press.

  Well, if he created everything, it would include people both good and evil. Just because he created them does not mean he created them specifically to be evil. Mankind was given a gift of this planet and free choice to make his own determinations. Rather than self rule, he chose monarchs and dictators. Mankind itself has furthered the wicked agenda by supporting such a system. Even if you are fading, your very presence in the Hall supports their agenda.

  The question remaining, with a very short amount of time left for "your final answer" is...will people continue to give away their personal power to make their own decisions to instead permit someone else rule over them and make the life decisions for them? Will you get your sea legs and learn to stand up in the midst of rough waters? People have always had free will and the ability to chose. Some don't believe they do only because they opt for the easy way out---go along to get alone.

  Girl Scout Cookies

  it's that time of year again: girl scout cookies!.

  sales are down 20% because of the economy, but my purchases are going strong -- six boxes.

  i'm sharing them with my co-workers, though.. i'm partial to the thin mints and the samoas.. do you like them?
